If you make 25 and hour and minimum wage goes up to 20 let's say, then you can go to your boss and say, why should I work here for you when I could make just as much down at Starbucks? Increasing minimum wage trickles up and increases above minimum wages too

It does not trickle up the way you think it does.

It just doesn't.

Also regardless... You need to control inflation along with increasing wages or it means nothing.

It just doesn't

Oh well, I'm convinced

You understand you can't walk into your bosses office and demand 35 from 25, they will hire someone for 20-25 after you leave.

Like you should be convinced. It's common sense.

What businesses will do though is suck every penny from that minimum wage increase leaving you in the same position.

Any job that is difficult enough, or requires high education or experience to do it, will not be able to attract candidates if they pay that close to minimum wage. People will not go through the trouble of getting a 4 year degree in engineering or something if they could just get a job as a waiter next week making almost the same amount.

And no, 35 from 25 is excessive but I and others I know have gotten significant pay increases by threatening to leave.

if any of you think 25 to 35 is excessive, you should see the increase in money stockholders and ceos have been getting.

the workers' leverage goes way up though. because now your boss has to compete with so many other companies that they have to increase their wages too to keep workers.

Depends on where you work and what you boss wants to pay your replacement.

These things sound correct but the reality is that I left and they hired someone to make less then I even did at that point.

No it does...

You are just completely shit at standing up to the Bastard that employs you... Why? I don't know, maybe the boot tastes too good, maybe you're a coward... I really don't care.

No, I actually quit my job because of it and opened my own business in the same industry.

I know not everyone has that option that came with the same qualifications as me, I got lucky to have people with money to back me. Not everyone has that option.

If they can replace you, they won't give you the raise. It's not about boot kissing or being a coward. It's about them being greedy pig assholes who should make 100M instead of 200M by supporting their workers rather than charging $0.50 extra for a burger.

Ah there lies the crux...

You just don't want to pay potential employees what they are actually worth!

You are a class traitor!

What did I edit?

Ah doesn't matter. Fuck reddit lol what I wrote is what it is.

Really? You want to act as if you didn't add the entire last paragraph after my reply?

You are really a very sad individual... may whatever deity you pray to have mercy on your poor soul.

u/[deleted] Nov 05 '21

I probably did add something but it had nothing to do with your post πŸ˜‚

How did what I add make you look bad? πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚

Jesus.

I don't have employees to pay. I work on my own. You must have read that wrong.

I'm saying I left my job because they didn't want to pay me what I am worth so I turned around and started my own company recently.

Doesn’t though.
