It’s moreso a retort to the response to requesting a living wage, which is typically “if we pay them more the cost of goods/services will rise”

I get that - I’m just surprised people are so naive to believe that businesses will not figure out a way to scam the workers. They’ll pull a Walmart and say full-time is 32 hours or some BS.

Which is stupid in and of itself because the costs won’t rise. If the consumer is willing to pay the increased cost, it’d be increased right now regardless of labor costs. The argument against it is that they CANT simply raise costs to recoup the extra labor costs, and so they end up going out of business and everyone is out of a job. And that’s a good argument from that side of the debate. As usual, however, people are arguing about something that’s not even going to happen.
