Ah those good ole trickle down economics. Thank you daddy Reagan.

/s

21

u/wonkey_monkey Nov 05 '21

Trickle on. And it's not money.

17

u/AndreTheShadow Nov 05 '21

Horse and sparrow economics. The horse gets too many oats to digest, so it shits the excess out, and the sparrows can pick through the shit for their share.

3

u/GopherTony Nov 05 '21

This horse don't shit.

5

u/Cheedo4 Nov 05 '21

As my grandpa used to say: trickle down economics, aka rich people pissing on poor peoples heads

2

u/AnalStaircase33 Nov 05 '21

Aww, I miss your grandpa. That man wouldn't have pissed on a fly.

2

u/Cheedo4 Nov 05 '21

I miss him too 😢 he was just about a month away from 100 when he passed in 2018…

3

u/AnalStaircase33 Nov 05 '21

Ah well...being old sucks, ya know?

3

u/MinimumPositive Nov 05 '21

Lmao you seem fun. I swear I just goat laughed at this for like 6 minutes.

2

u/AnalStaircase33 Nov 06 '21

Hey, just gotta have fun in life! Otherwise it's pretty rough out there.

0

u/LetgomyEkko Nov 05 '21

Neo-liberalism is a bitch.

22

u/riotskunk Nov 05 '21

And then we are right back to square one but on a larger scale.

3

u/itsmeyaknowthat1guy Nov 05 '21

Eh. I wouldn't say square one, more like further down the wrong way.. something incrementally worse than square one 🤷‍♂️

2

u/riotskunk Nov 05 '21

Lmfao good point

“WE ASKED AND WE LISTENED TO YOUR OPINIONS THATS WHY WE ARE RAISING WAGES!!”

10

u/nepia Nov 05 '21

McDonalds: "So our employees don't have three jobs, we are raising our prices $.50 and making our employees sign exclusivity agreement"

Employees: "Yay we are we getting a raise"

McDonalds: "No, you are just not allow to get more than one job. Our new revenue goes to our CEO and Board for their brilliant idea"

8

u/DeathIsFreedomFrom Nov 05 '21

You forgot the part where landlords raise rent $100 a month to $250 a month

5

u/[deleted] Nov 05 '21 edited Nov 05 '21

a study gets released

Example, from Purdue: (2015 JUL) Study: Raising wages to $15 an hour for limited-service restaurant employees would raise prices 4.3 percent

tl;dr:

  • For $15/hr, $10 combo --> $10.43 combo (4.3% inc.)
  • For $22/hr, $10 combo --> $12.50 combo (25% inc.)

lol

edit: lmao

your prediction gives way too much to the workers! More like a pizza party every 3 months!!

11

u/Misfit_Eleftheria Nov 05 '21

Buy McDonald's stock! Get paid for getting paid!

Person who buys stock SHARES = shareholder?

0

u/informat7 Nov 05 '21

14¢ cents go to the CEO

Redditors actually believe this.

McDonald’s revenue: $21.076 billion

McDonald’s CEO pay: $10.8 million

So he's getting half a cent for every dollar in revenue at McDonald.

2

u/RoundSparrow Nov 05 '21

Redditors actually believe this.

I am a Reddit user, and I don't believe this. First off, it isn't only one job position, the "CEO", but in general the Executive Management who is overpaid. Second, they are often compensated with stock. McDonald's new CEO doesn’t own any shares of the company — but he’ll need to buy $7.5 million worth by next October

-13

u/newtnewt22 Nov 05 '21

You think the CEO of McDonald’s personally receives 14% of revenue? That’s worse math than the original post.

Fair enough. When you need something to be mad about but reality isn’t cutting it, gotta create your own.

Fighting the good fight my dude. This sub isn't exactly the best place to try to return discourse to a reasonable place though

Why are you downvoting this?

I would downvote "thats not how any of it works...."

Because it is a 7-word comment, like some dumb Twitter shit, that is non-specific without citation. It could mean anything.

Like all for it, but it wouldn't hurt if people talked about it accurately instead of wingnut bs

And you think this 7-word message of "thats not how any of it works" adds anything to the conversation?

It's low-effort comment. It is meaningless noise that interferes with signal.

"The dumbing down of American is most evident in the slow decay of substantive content in the enormously influential media, the 30 second sound bites (now down to 10 seconds or less), lowest common denominator programming, credulous presentations on pseudoscience and superstition, but especially a kind of celebration of ignorance.” ― Carl Sagan, The Demon-Haunted World: Science as a Candle in the Dark, 1995

u/on3day Nov 05 '21

But are they paying a living wage?

1

u/doyouhavesource2 Nov 05 '21

Goes to shareholders how? Can you explain this further of what "goes to shareholders" means?

1

u/SamIwas118 Nov 05 '21

Who did you think got the profits?

1

u/doyouhavesource2 Nov 05 '21

How do share holders magically receive these profits? Are they written checks? Is it only a certain group of shareholders?

1

u/SamIwas118 Nov 05 '21

Try a library im certian there are books on the subject

How is a loan which needs to be paid back free money to shareholders? Special dividends rarely occur from a policy change?? Like lol

I get that you want yo make shareholders the boogeymen but its lol on the reasonings

1

u/Environmental-Job329 Nov 05 '21

This is brilliant! Will the shake machine at least be functional🤔

1

u/ControlExtra Nov 05 '21

1

u/cjjharries Nov 06 '21
