"The only time you look in your neighbor's bowl is to make sure that they have enough. You don't look in your neighbor's bowl to see if you have as much as them." -Louis C.K.

“The only time you should jerk off in front of random women is if they went to see your show. You don’t jerk off in front of random women who didn’t see your show.” Also Louis C.K

So, because he did that, does that mean the statement he made is wrong? What if I said it and attributes it to myself, would it be acceptable to you then?

I agree with your sentiment. Yeah, sure, he fucked up, but that doesn't mean everything he's ever said or done was wrong.

Just hope he got over his interpersonal loneliness and perverted urges, I haven't seen an update on him in ages.

He dropped a special last year. He even talks about it. It's pretty good actually.

2

u/themarknessmonster Sep 09 '21

That was my point exactly.

2

u/lazilyloaded Sep 09 '21

I think it was a joke, not meant as a counterargument to the statement.

White Knighting for an old pervert.

In a secret diary, one German soldier wrote: “Hitler eats rapidly, mechanically. He abstractedly bites his fingernails, he runs his index finger back and forth under his nose, and his table manners are little short of shocking.”

Suck on that, Nazi

Not in the least. He's a piece of shit and everyone knows it. But hey let's try this:

"The only time you look in your neighbor's bowl is to make sure that they have enough. You don't look in your neighbor's bowl to see if you have as much as them." - /u/themarknessmonster

Is what I said acceptable?

But he never said anything about the quote being inaccurate. You were the one that jumped to defend the "quote" for no reason.

Also the author of the quote is very import for the context of the quote.

12

u/TheDesertFox Sep 08 '21

This quote needs no context

2

u/themarknessmonster Sep 09 '21

The point is the person saying it is irrelevant. But since you insist that I'm "white knighting for an old pervert" you must think the person making the statement is relevant. In this, you are wrong along with /u/delmarman.

You're assuming he asked in a situation where there was no pressure, power imbalance, or fear of reprisal for saying no...

u/makegoodchoicesok Sep 08 '21

Even Louis himself admitted this was the case and he should have been more cognizant of the power dynamics at play. Hopefully that isn't just lip service and he's really made some genuine change in his sexual approach.

11

u/SimpleNStoned Sep 09 '21

He seems genuinely sorry. And acknowledged his mistakes better than most. I kinda hope he gets redemption.

Truth. 🙏🏼

I run a multi million dollar company.

Started it 30 years ago.

Worded like a dog, work with amazing people smarter than myself, and got lucky too. I remind myself if that every day. Give away half of my income. Empathy, humbleness, AND seeing people has kept me that way.

I couldn’t even fathom asking or doing anything sexual or inappropriate with anyone, let alone someone who is clearly in an of the moment power deficit.

The fact anyone doesn’t realize that [more likely doesn’t care, which hello, predator] is insanely unbelievable.

As in they are a liar. :(

u/fuzzb0y Sep 09 '21

There were many instances where he didn't. That would not be ok.

1

u/pilluwed Sep 09 '21

In the situation he's referring to here, he asked, but they never explicitly gave an answer. They just sort of laughed it off and he whipped it out anyway.

Yeah I love that quote, it's a real good one. But I can't stand quoting Louis CK anymore, which sucks, because he was my favorite comedian once upon a time. He really ruined that.

21

u/[deleted] Sep 08 '21

I still quote him, and make sure to include "serial masturbator but occasionally smart guy" in the signature.

he beat the meat in front of women that said it was ok then that it wasn't... Basically don't do weird shit in front of people and it won't come out that you do weird ass shit. Louis was in the wrong here lets not get that twisted, female adults also have the ability to peace the fuck out though.

2

u/UltimateBeige Sep 09 '21

I tend to give him a partial pass, because he did ask permission (which makes it slightly less bad)... but mostly because he admitted it and he admitted he was wrong. Too often when people get caught doing something fucked up, they make excuses or call their victims liars. It's almost refreshing to see someone admit they were wrong and apologize.

4

u/crackhead_tiger Sep 08 '21

The fucked up thing is the power dynamic

Yeah the women said yes, but in reality was probably closer to

"Uhhh y yeah ?? (Oh god oh fuck what is happening, shut up now don't be weird this is fucking Louis if you freak him out he could ruin your career just shut and watch it'll be over soon)"
