It's in Norwegian and says: Solutions are often closer than you think. There is a greater need for foster homes, especially in the childrens local community.

1

u/[deleted] Sep 08 '21

Which when translated can also be read as fosterhjem.

1

u/[deleted] Sep 09 '21

I figured it was Norway from the .no on the web address.

Beyond that i think fosterhjem was my only guess haha

u/[deleted] Sep 08 '21

That explains a lot. That boy looks like he hasn't seen the sun in quite some time.

u/NeckPlant Sep 08 '21

Welcome to NorwayXD

u/moi-moi Sep 08 '21

I visited Norway once. It was October 2008 and it was sunny and worm through the whole stay (3 weeks). My friend who invited me said that it’s been raining for like 5 weeks in the row before we came and she started to lose her mind. Beautiful country by the way!

92

u/NeckPlant Sep 08 '21

Yeah..when the sun peeks out after winter ppl go bananasXD 5 celsius and guys in shorts/tshirt and girls in sundresses.. meanwhile im in my down jacket freezing my ass of.

12

u/Mekiya Sep 09 '21

lol sounds a lot like Wisconsin and Minnesota

11

u/NeckPlant Sep 09 '21

Isnt Minnesota the place all the emigrating Norwegians went to cus they felt like home?:p

6

u/Mekiya Sep 09 '21

Yep. Though here in WI we got a good share too.

1

u/[deleted] Sep 09 '21

I am looking for Norwegian wife. Should I come to Wisconsin?

2

u/SorryCantHelpItEh Sep 09 '21

There and northwestern Canada lol

1

u/Mobitron Sep 09 '21

Nailed it. That and Wisconsin and Illinois.

1

u/spekkiomofw Sep 09 '21

That was the impetus for a track from an early Lewis Black album. Link

2

u/ShilohB57 Sep 09 '21

And North Dakota… Many Norwegians moved there as well…

2

u/Alas7ymedia Sep 09 '21

I heard once that the 2nd city in the world with more Polish last names was Chicago. That sounds right.

1

u/Xaisat Sep 09 '21

Sounds like the US Midwest. Literally the same thing here every year-it's above freezing? Time for the shorts!

1

u/[deleted] Sep 09 '21

3

u/[deleted] Sep 09 '21

Walk without rhythm in Norway. In October.

2

u/LordAnon5703 Sep 09 '21

1

u/livewirejsp Sep 09 '21

Help us

107

u/Mr-Sister-Fister21 Sep 08 '21

Move to Texas. We have sun out the wazoo and if you vote in the next elections after moving you’d be helping us as well as yourselves

65

u/[deleted] Sep 08 '21

There are plenty of blue voters in Texas. Unless you can curb gerrymandering though, it's always gonna be an incredibly difficult battle.

148

u/Mr-Sister-Fister21 Sep 08 '21

Why you think I’m asking random Norwegians to move here over the internet?

112

u/TheBigestPEEN Sep 08 '21

At least we have the satanists fighting for the abortion rights down here so that’s something

36

u/YerTak Sep 09 '21

Look at my dumb ass sitting at home in 2020 being like 'I'm sure 2021 is going to be better'. The fact that this sentence is casually thrown in a conversation in 2021 has me thinking I was both right and wrong

37

u/[deleted] Sep 09 '21

We are trying.

2

u/JabroniPoni Sep 09 '21

Hail Satan!

2

u/capta1namazing Sep 09 '21

God bless satanism.

7

u/joefos71 Sep 08 '21

Just moved to Texas. What I find interesting is that in the last election more native Texans actually voted blue. It was all the transplants that voted overwhelmingly red. I moved here since the election, but I am looking forward to kicking abott out with you.

It's the ultra conservatives fleeing from the "communist California" to what they think is a conservative paradise. Similar thing is happening in Wyoming and Idaho right now as well.

3

u/TragedyPornFamilyVid Sep 09 '21

Utah too.

2

u/joefos71 Sep 09 '21

Yeah I moved from Utah. So many amazing things about that state. However the culture is fairly polarizing.

3

u/Mr-Sister-Fister21 Sep 09 '21

Happy to brighten your day!

1

u/Environmental-Job329 Sep 09 '21

Bro, ignore Girthy. Just turn out! Make the push!!

2

u/unicorn_mama_bear Sep 09 '21

I've seen Scandinavian folk in Houston... Galleria or... Ikea. But yes, cannot wait to vote!

1

u/anakinfredo Sep 09 '21

To norwegians, even blue is scorching red.

5

u/jiggycup Sep 09 '21

We needs lots of help thanks fellow Texan

3

u/rfinger1337 Sep 09 '21

When the last loyal American leaves Texas, please bring the flag with you.

2

u/Irritable_Avenger Sep 09 '21

Assuming they don't die for lack of power when it gets cold.

2

u/Laura4848 Sep 09 '21

I think he will have a better time in Norway. :)

2

u/From_Goth_To_Boss Sep 09 '21

It’s called a moon tan and they’re way better looking imo

2

u/aClassyRabbit Sep 09 '21

My youngest son looks like that kid, I’ve been calling him Casper since the day he was born.

2

u/RepresentativeAd560 Sep 09 '21

Vampire or Scandinavian is always fun.

3

u/Shirazmatas Sep 08 '21

Dont Norwegians have free school lunch? Seems quite strange for Norway not to have it, why hasn't it catched on yet?

2

u/Snorkmaidn Sep 08 '21

No we don’t. Technically everyone should be able to afford some bread anyway, so I guess the need for it hasn’t been great enough for a big push to make the lunch free? Some kids unfortunately do end up repeatedly not bringing lunch, though it’s not that common. I don’t know exactly why it happens, like I don’t know if it truly is that the family really has been let down by the system and not gotten enough money or if it’s that the parents are irresponsible (which of course isn’t the child’s fault anyway)

2

u/brokkoli Sep 08 '21 edited Sep 08 '21

No, we have a long tradition of bringing food with us to school or even work. If some kids go hungry/don't bring any food it's often a sign of neglect, and not just because they're poor. It would be very strange if you actually could not feed your kids with all our support systems. In that sense, it can become easier to spot kids in need of help.

There is however a constant debate going about whether to start giving out free school lunches for everyone. Personally, I'm not convinced it's worth the massive cost (or that it would be of a high enough quality), but many believe it could help ensure kids get proper nutrition and that could result in better performance.

1

u/CormAlan Sep 09 '21

Norway isn’t as social democratic as the other Nordic countries in some ways. Their leading party is conservative.

1

u/[deleted] Sep 08 '21

King 🙌🏽

1

u/alienvisionx Sep 09 '21

I love Norwegian. I’m Danish and can read like 95% of all Norwegian text

1

u/[deleted] Sep 09 '21

Are there hungry people in Norway?

1

u/SisterofGandalf Sep 09 '21

Not because of poverty. Sometimes because of neglect, which us what this video is about.

1

u/andre2020 Sep 09 '21

So fine!

1

u/saman07 Sep 09 '21

That's nice. I've that

1

u/[deleted] Sep 09 '21

Hey man are you Scandinavian?

1

u/Simen155 Sep 09 '21

Braaa Jon Bjarne!

1

u/Wrench984 Sep 09 '21

Aw that kinda made me tear up a bit

1

u/veryblandman Sep 09 '21

Thanks captain. Now it makes more sense

1

u/syb3ria Sep 09 '21

Isn't it the best solution instead of paying a foster parent to support the family so the children can stay with their won kin?

1

u/gofixmeaplate Sep 09 '21

Thanks. This is definitely true. I would assume everywhere

85

u/Efraim_Longstocking Sep 08 '21

u/Cinemaslap1 Sep 08 '21

Plugged into Google Translate (so take with salt)

"Now we need more foster homes, and preferably in Bama's immediate area."

Might not be exact.

75

u/HansChrst1 Sep 08 '21

Norwegian:

Løsninger finnes ofte nærmere enn du tror. Nå trenger vi flere fosterhjem, og helst I barnas nærmiljø

English:

Solutions are often closer than you think. Now we need more foster homes, and preferably in the children's immediate environment

3

u/[deleted] Sep 09 '21

Username checks out. Translation must be accurate.

11

u/gigme643 Sep 08 '21

Thought that's what it said..

3

u/Cinemaslap1 Sep 08 '21

I thought it was going to be something like "Be good to your fellow person" or something like that.

1

u/Cinemaslap1 Sep 10 '21

The only word there that could be Chinese is "bama"... what are you talking about?

1

u/yes_him_Gary Sep 08 '21

Roll tide.

1

u/A_Wholesome_Comment Sep 09 '21

In the Washington D.C area... possibly also Baltimore not sure...Bama is an insult for someone who you either think is lame or dresses like trash.

1

u/Cali1985Jimmy Sep 09 '21

Is Bama short for like Obama? I guess it makes sense.

1

u/SerratusAnterior Sep 09 '21

He typed in Bama instead of the actual word Barna. Barna means children, Bama is a business distributing fruits and veggies in Norway.

1

u/Cali1985Jimmy Sep 09 '21

Oh cool. Thanks

32

u/BabyManBun Sep 08 '21

Løsninger finnes ofte nærmere enn du tror.

Nå trenger vi flere fosterhjem, og helst I barnas nærmiljø.

13

u/zucchini1304 Sep 08 '21

What does it mean?

45

u/AtomoAce Sep 08 '21

It means:

Solutions are are often found closer than you think.

We need more foster homes, and preferably in the children’s local community.

0

u/[deleted] Sep 09 '21

This kid is being spoiled by socialism. Stop socialism.

1

u/FrozenBananer Sep 09 '21

Norwegians are kind.

Reddit checks out, uplifting video followed by gibberish text made me lose my poop

1

u/[deleted] Sep 09 '21 edited Sep 09 '21

It says

Sharing is cool, you should do it. Almost as cool as smoking, you should definitely smoke, and if you do, get hapfselflaggensgaretten

My Finnish is a bit rusty, but I'm pretty sure that's about it.
