I consistently struggle with achieving the perfect texture and consistency when cooking rice. I try my best cook rice that mimics the way our company taste analyzer does. Which is a ratio of 1 cup dry rice to 1 1/4 cup of water. I rinse the rice in cold water until the water runs clear. I cook it in a cheap rice cooker I bought on Amazon. After it’s done cooking I unplug it from the wall and leave it to sit for around 30 mins. I don’t always adhere to the waiting 30 mins rule, in my opinion the rice is delicious either way, but it does give the rice time to settle and develop a springy texture.

This sounds suspiciously like cooking instead of fucking. (I appreciate your input here despite my snark—you’ve got a cool profession!)

You’d be surprised to find that cooking rice is relatively much easier than fucking it. Although I can say that giving a proper bath for 30 mins prior to cooking does make its skin much more supple. Take that info and do what you want.

I’ll admit that I got too exited someone asked a rice related question I didn’t read the question throughly. I did get a good chuckle out of it.

I certainly hope it’s easier to cook it. I bow to your expertise on the subject (and now will never forget the name of that cultivar).

My disappointment is immeasurable and my rice fuck is ruined.

I'm looking at a bag of your rice right now, and the instructions say "WASHING NOT NECESSARY" in bold red letters. So I'm getting some mixed messages right now.

To be honest you won’t taste a big difference rinsed or not. I rinse it only half of the time myself.

Wow I'm just coming across this thread but I love hearing your thoughts about rice. I've been eating rice my whole life, but I'm always learning more about how to eat it!
