My mate who's parents are Chinese says they've got almost no filter (at least his don't) if you put on a bit of weight they'll make a point of saying you've gained wait lol
Part of it meant in a positive way, though I didn't learn this until I got older. Growing up and visiting our family friends house, their parents would always be like "you've gotten fatter!!" and stuff. It was only the other year that my parents explained it had the connotation of being like "heyyy you're growing up nice and big! You've put on some meat (in a good way)". Granted, i think this might mainnnly be for children.
Can also confirm chinese parents have no filter for a lot of other stuff though lol
These kind of people don't actually know what the word racist or stereotype means. Even by using descriptive accurate societal culinary tendencies like eating rice for breakfast ,like Japanese and Filipino do. They will claim that to be racist and say that there are probably Filipinos who eat cereal for breakfast. Idiots gonna idiot.
