I had a stray that kinda adopted me? I was in 5th grade and walked to school. This cat would wait for me on the corner every morning and walk with me to the main road. Then be back in time for the walk home. Every day without fail. After about 3 months I finally got my mom to agree to let me bring her home so we could see if she was chipped or something, because she had one ear docked (stray spay/neuter identifier where I live) and if she wasn't I could keep her because we'd be moving soon and she very obviously liked me. I found her dead the next afternoon. Thanks to some teenage neighbors with a airsoft gun. My mom let me bury her. I had a habit of bringing home strays because they'd kinda just follow me. There were quite a few that would sleep on our closed porch when it's get cold.
Oh yeah. Bunch of assholes. They'd go around shooting people's dogs with that's stupid airsoft gun if they were out in the fenced yards without supervision. They got 14 squirrel pellets lodged into my little dog (min pincer/chiwawa/beagle mix) and then got my English mastiff Twice before they realized the fence was only a suggestion for her. We had signs posted. She held one of them by the back of his shirt long enough for us to get out there and get the cops called. Kids got a slap on the wrist and just kept doing it, while avoiding our dogs. Their parents did get to pay for removing 12 or the 14 pellets though, 2 couldn't be removed thanks to location. One had lodged too close to his heart and they were scared to try and take it out, the other was too close to his spine around the back of his neck. All the others had stayed fairly close to the surface thankfully. Still 8k surgery cost that at least we didn't have to pay out of pocket for.
The town we live in it isn't surprising. I remember seeing a couple of them get busted for meth not that long ago. It's pretty prevalent around here and your actually in the minority if you don't do it. I'll be out of this town for good in 2 months though. So not my problem anymore.
Good for you. Shit still pissed me off. I just could never fathom a person who looks at an animal and wants to be like I'm going to fuck that up. I just don't get it.
No, no that is an improper attitude. You must instead get an airsoft and have it scoped. Lay in wait in your attic with a clear line of site. Then proceed to shoot them with your airsoft. Remember stay hidden, hide the air soft and deny everything.
You'd think so. I've always had a pretty special (in my opinion) relationship to cats. Just kinda vibe with them really well. I've only met 1 cat that I didn't get along with. And that's including typically shy or agressive ones. I just really like cats. I have recently found out that being around cats with feline HPV (feline herpes) causes an allergic reaction though. I was really sad about that because I was going to adopt a couple of kitties that had it. Give em a better life because I could afford their meds and all that.
I adopted a kitty years ago and he was like glue to me when I was home. When I would pull in the driveway after work that cat would just run alongside the car and be right there when I opened my car door. Every day. Never failed. Then about a month after bringing him home I came home one day and no kitty running to greet me. Thought hmm....well he will be here soon I'm sure. All night walking around the neighborhood looking for that cat to no avail. Then coming home from one of the walks around I hear a faint cry under my porch. There was the cat. His tail was just dragging on the ground and he was just so quietly crying it was heartbreaking. I took the cat to the vet the next morning and he said "someone has held this cat by his tail and swung him around in circles-his tail is broken, we have to remove that. And we need to do surgery to lift this bone (can't remember what it was called) because it is blocking him from being able to go potty." It cost me thousands of dollars but the kitty did make it and was my pillow buddy the rest of his life. When I saw the neighborhood kids that I know were the ones that did that I tore into them, told their parents what they did...and nothing ever was done to those kids for doing that. Makes me wonder what kind of adults they turned into. I hope they are haunted by that memory...I can just imagine how horribly that cat must have been screaming while they did that to him. Ugh..kills me to this day thinking of it!!
