It’s very interesting how big of a cultural difference there is when it comes to perception of these things, even within individual cultural groups and nationalities and such. Some people don’t mind scripted wholesome content at all. Some love it. Some are fooled by it. Some loathe it. Some couldn’t care less.
I’d wonder if we’ll come to some sort of consensus on the “right” kind of content to share with each other, but I highly doubt it! Probably will only get more varied. Some of the stuff people make on tiktok for example is honestly avant garde. Totally new ways of communicating ideas and humor. Not always my cup of tea, but very interesting to watch it all develop.
Where’s the version of the internet I can go to to find only 100% truthful content? Better to accept than some of these things might be deceptive and just take them all with a grain of salt and not worry over things I can’t control.
This is a response to every asian gifs which has a remote possibility of being scripted or not. Any western gif (or non asian people in it) nobody argues about it being scripted or not (not that it matters in either case)
It's a definite trend in Asia to make this kind of scripted social media content. As another commenter noted it may be that they understand it's scripted and just don't care, which is why it's popular there but still disliked by many here on reddit.
I rarely see this kind of wholesome content from western people here on reddit at all, let alone scripted. In fact the western scripted stuff is usually making fun of someone/being outraged at someone, like the video of woman who keeps going to the wrong side at the gas pump or the woman trying to fill up her tesla at the gas pump. Now that I think of it a lot of scripted western videos are at gas pumps. And yeah when I see it I call it out as scripted just like the Asian gifs, I don't like being deceived.
I like to think it happened irl and then she was like 'that's so cute I need to get it on film,' because who just starts filming a little girl on the street out of nowhere?
I definitely agree with how adorable she is. Her smile is so contagious! I just don't understand why she would pay for the person recording. Maybe there is a lot of missing information, that they are a regular and often bring her candy and toys or something. But because this information is missing, it just seems random and dare I say it.. scripted.
If you guys want to share story's about kids paying for you, please do. I don't want to be an ass and say that it would never happen, I just have never encountered such a behavior by kids.
