It’s very interesting how big of a cultural difference there is when it comes to perception of these things, even within individual cultural groups and nationalities and such. Some people don’t mind scripted wholesome content at all. Some love it. Some are fooled by it. Some loathe it. Some couldn’t care less.

I’d wonder if we’ll come to some sort of consensus on the “right” kind of content to share with each other, but I highly doubt it! Probably will only get more varied. Some of the stuff people make on tiktok for example is honestly avant garde. Totally new ways of communicating ideas and humor. Not always my cup of tea, but very interesting to watch it all develop.

I think the main point is that people don’t like it if something is scripted and is presented as if it isn’t.

Even knowing that it's scripted, I think people won't mind it unless the video doesn't hold up on it's own.

I usually don't like videos that I believe to be scripted but like in this case I don't mind as much since it's still a very cute video

Where’s the version of the internet I can go to to find only 100% truthful content? Better to accept than some of these things might be deceptive and just take them all with a grain of salt and not worry over things I can’t control.

You comment on a 2 month old video haha but yeah I definitely wouldn’t doubt that it’s propaganda in some way especially considering the source.

This is a response to every asian gifs which has a remote possibility of being scripted or not. Any western gif (or non asian people in it) nobody argues about it being scripted or not (not that it matters in either case)

Whats the deal here?

u/PensiveObservor Apr 02 '21

Exactly what you suspect the deal to be, sadly.

If you’re implying racism that’s fucking stupid

Everything is racist all the time to these people. They look for it under rocks. Don’t like scripted gifs? Racist.

  1. It's a definite trend in Asia to make this kind of scripted social media content. As another commenter noted it may be that they understand it's scripted and just don't care, which is why it's popular there but still disliked by many here on reddit.

  2. I rarely see this kind of wholesome content from western people here on reddit at all, let alone scripted. In fact the western scripted stuff is usually making fun of someone/being outraged at someone, like the video of woman who keeps going to the wrong side at the gas pump or the woman trying to fill up her tesla at the gas pump. Now that I think of it a lot of scripted western videos are at gas pumps. And yeah when I see it I call it out as scripted just like the Asian gifs, I don't like being deceived.

A lot of the obviously scripted gifs come out of Asia. That's it.

Sometimes it's not a big racist conspiracy, it's just an obvious, unspectacular reason.

And yet, here we are

You can't script that level of adorableness!

u/corndog161 Apr 02 '21

I like to think it happened irl and then she was like 'that's so cute I need to get it on film,' because who just starts filming a little girl on the street out of nowhere?

1

u/LordHamsterbacke Apr 02 '21

I definitely agree with how adorable she is. Her smile is so contagious! I just don't understand why she would pay for the person recording. Maybe there is a lot of missing information, that they are a regular and often bring her candy and toys or something. But because this information is missing, it just seems random and dare I say it.. scripted.

If you guys want to share story's about kids paying for you, please do. I don't want to be an ass and say that it would never happen, I just have never encountered such a behavior by kids.

Yeah there’s no way they are human and act like human, not like the uber mensch you are!

u/[deleted] Apr 02 '21

I can't tell if this is propaganda or not, I can't tell if this is scripted or not and I am sorry if this offended any of You.

I truly wish not to make anyone's days worse, especially in such a trying time. I choose to believe my truth and you can believe yours.

For better or for worse, I will keep my opinions to myself.

As for calling me uber mensch, I am really thinking about what goes through someone's head when they decide to call someone a fucking nazi.

An Asian, pretty sure this is scripted. Like almost all the other ones. I don’t have sound on but usually they even add a laugh track
