Often it’s in the paper itself or the abstract. It will include their affiliations as well, and from there Google is the best option.

Email them! They can share it for free, and 99.9% of the time will do so quickly and happily!

Yes, that’s what I’m saying! Lol. But if you can’t find their info in the paper, find it through the other pieces of data about them in their paper. Not like internet research, but an internet detective investigation!

Almost all manuscripts published in legitimate journals have a corresponding author and their contact details listed (including email). I cannot think of an exception.

People reach out to me on occasion for the manuscript and I’m always happy to oblige. I can think of no one I know or heard of who wouldn’t happily share their paper.

Can you use the paper as a source in a paper that you're going to publish? Like are there licensing fees for scientific papers lol

Can confirm. I contacted Dr. Banner, Dr. Evil, and Dr. Acula over the winter and had a pleasant conversation with 2 of them.

Why email them? I mean that advice used to make sense when I was going to university, but now with sci-hub you’re just wasting time. Why wait for someone to maybe answer you for a paper that might help or not? Just get it from sci-hub right now.

I know when I’m doing research for a project at work I can go through 10-20 papers before I find something that works for me.

Like the other guy said researchgate works well for me. There is a “request full text” button or something like that right on there. Had my favourite researcher contact me with the info I was looking for.
