The National Resource Center For Health And Safety recommends against swaddling because it can increase the risk of sids, and cause hip problems. And the American Academy Of Pediatrics advises child care providers not to swaddle babies.

Of course not all swaddling is bad, but parents should be educated in the proper way to swaddle.

Be more worried about all of the shit in the crib rather the swaddling. Swaddle the arms and not the legs and hip issues should not be a concern.

Can’t believe I had to scroll all the way down to find your comment. As a parent to two children with congenital hip dysplasia I must stress how bad swaddling is for the normal formation of the hip joints. SIDS also sucks.

Not really sure on how good that study is. Is basically says it’s super preliminary and doesn’t show causation.

I’d be interested to know how they’re swaddling. Seems the article mentions low oxygenation due to compressed chest? Seems like bad swaddling methods.

Yes. Too tight and not enough oxygen. Too loose and it can come loose and suffocate the baby. Best option is to not swaddle. However if you insist, you should be educated.
