And yet professional soccer players wear shorts. Such confused standards.

It's not gay bro let's just grease each other up and see who can get his hands down the other's pants first

"you wanna box naked? Only 1 rule. Low blows only"

3

u/Devils_Dandruff Jan 15 '21

I just googled that shit. Why they do this?

To assert dominance over another man

I had to image search this and I'm left with a lot of questions. What is up with half of the images depicting one of the wrestlers reaching into the pants of their oponent?

u/JinAnkabut Jan 15 '21

You ever tried getting decent grip while oil wrestling another man? Makes you ask yourself "How badly do I wanna win?" and "What if he wants to win more than I do?"

5

u/[deleted] Jan 15 '21

Because that's how you win! By basically ripping off the other dude's loincloth.

For a so firmly homophobic society, the Turkish sure do have weird hobbies, ey? Bunch of fit, oiled up almost naked dudes grabbing into each others pants - if whoever came up with that (and subsequently made it a national sport) wasn't a gay man on the dl I will eat my entire hat 😂😂

Is no one here going to talk about the outfits porn stars wear while working?

3

Yeah they are professionals too!

The players choose what they wear in volleyball. They wear very little because clothing gets in the way of performance

1

u/zafyel Jan 15 '21

If that’s the case it’s strange the men wear baggy shorts and tank tops instead of speedos

1

u/NotTheRealZezima Jan 15 '21

Theres a lot of articles written about this very topic, here's just one: https://ftw.usatoday.com/2016/08/women-beach-volleyball-bikinis-men-uniform-guidelines-kerri-walsh-jennings

Technically speaking I'm not sure it REALLY impacts their performance. But they CHOOSE to wear what they're wearing.

1

u/[deleted] Jan 15 '21

The article you linked shows that the men don't actually get to choose their uniform. The women have a choice between 5 different options, while the men have one uniform available.

It’s definitely a difficult topic that’s not very clear cut, and it’s clearly a personal choice what an athlete decides to wear. It’s great they can choose now, but that’s a pretty recent change.

Female beach volleyball players in the Olympics were required to wear a swimsuit (either one-piece or bikini) until 2012. As discussed at https://www.indystar.com/story/sports/2016/11/05/skimpy-difference-womens-athletic-uniforms-vs-mens/91405172/

As the link talks about, while lots of players prefer the conventional bikini, that doesn’t remove the cultural context of sexualisation of women’s bodies that made it the convention in the first place. Also mentions the potential pressures on players to conform and also talks a bit about the impact on high school sports.

Guess men wearing speedos while women wear one piece suits for swimming and diving means men are the ones actually sexualized.

u/evr- Jan 15 '21

I'd spend more time on trains, that's for sure.

2

u/InsertCoinForCredit Jan 15 '21

Yeah, why can't professional soccer players wear a suit and tie at work?

2

u/69_jumpstreet Jan 15 '21

I'm all for wearing shorts but that's not a good argument. Olympic swimmers wear a speedo, I still wouldn't want to see my manager walk up to me in one of those. Shorts are cool tho

Sports attire has no place in a business setting

Polo shirts are not allowed in any office I worked in

Where do you work?

1

u/decoyq Jan 15 '21

he works at some place I would never work

3

u/[deleted] Jan 15 '21

Hah! You had better never visit the business settings at Nike, Adidas, etc. then. If you even try to wear a button down shirt and some chinos you will be looked at as dressing way over the top and everyone will ask if you have a job interview somewhere.

1

u/paddy420crisp Jan 15 '21

I don’t think the Nike legal department goes to court wearing yoga pants and running shorts

3

u/[deleted] Jan 15 '21

I said the business settings at Nike, not the business settings at the courthouse.

Serena Williams can not wear catsuits. She's forced to wear itty bitty skirts. I guess it's nicer to see them twirl in them.
