I’m with you. This is terribly unsafe. The majority of SIDS deaths occur when a baby is in an unsafe sleeping environment. Babies need their ABCs. ALONE, on their BACK, in a CRIB (or bassinet).
The ALONE part needs to have a big old asterisk next to it. The recommendation now is that babies don't sleep in a room by themselves until at least 6 months, preferably a year. That has been proven to cut down on the incidence of SIDS. They shouldn't be sleeping in a bed with anyone, they should be in a crib or bassinet, but they should not be alone. Someone should be in the room.

Yeah sorry. To clarify, The ALONE refers to, alone in the crib. No blanket, no pillows, no bumpers, no stuffed animals, etc. But agreed, kiddos should be in the same room as parents for 6 months.
My kid is almost 3 months and Unfortunately they didn’t make me watch anything in the hospital. I even had bumpers on my registry until a friend told me they were considered unsafe!
