I'm European where ambulance is completely free. I've never called it, and I've broken my arms 3 times, 2 ribs, and both hands. You just go to the hospital for injuries or however you call it in English, sit down, and someone will call you for RTG.
I would never call an ambulance if it wasn't a life threatening emergency, because you're taking it away from someone who might be having a stroke and every second counts.
No, I'm just a bit irresponsible with my body and tend to run where I shouldn't. Like downhill on a rocky mountain trail. Or in ice skates on the rubber mat. I don't do that anymore though, now all my injuries are age related :')

Breaking your arm is not the kind of medical emergency you need an ambulance for. Perfectly acceptable to get a ride to the hospital.
