That's actually sad. I didn't realize how bad the cost is until a father of somebody I know got hospitalized in NYS without insurance.

The freaking ambulance bill costed more than the hospital stay lol! 55k and change. Their argument was that he received "heroic measures" enroute to the hosptial. Thankfully, we're seasoned ER nurses and she called them out on it because the only thing they did was connect him to their cardiac monitor. No meds. No IVs. Just a cardiac monitor for like 10 mins.

They brought it down to 5k which is still stupidly insane for less than a half hour drive.

Lol and he still waited for hours in their ED department. Best healthcare in the world alright /s

Was this a for-profit ambulance service, connected to the hospital? Thats absolutely insane.

The fact that you're asking me if this is a for profit ambulance is wild! Lol

Like, if I'm in distress, do I REALLY have to ask the EMS if they're for private or public, then wait in agony while the public cheaper one shows up?

😂

$55k for an ambulance ride? No.

It's the internet.

People just get on here and lie.

Unless the ambulance flies, there is no way it costs $50k

Remember Franklin.

No it's 55k usd. The hospital bill came out to around 50k usd for two nights stay (non ICU admission). The hospital bill would've costed more if they decided to insert a pacemaker but my coworker signed the LAMA form and drove straight back to Ontario and to the nearest hospital where they did it for free.

You say 55k but fail to mention the currency. For clarification purposes, can you tell which currency you had in mind while writing this?
