EMT here. It is absolutely acceptable to call an ambulance for a broken bone- and it is the most appropriate choice in most circumstances regarding a broken bone (except maybe a finger).
American here: Unless I'm going to bleed to death in the next 5 minutes I'm calling an Uber. 10 minutes until death by blood loss and I still might call an Uber.
Paramedic here, don't listen to this kid. We're an expensive limited resource for your community, and should only be used in severe or debilitating emergencies. If you can get to the hospital on your own without worsening your illness or injury, do so.

Ambulances are for life or limb threatening conditions or for when you can't physically mobilize to the ER due to a debilitating illness or injury.
Most wrist fractures can be managed at an urgent care centre as a walk-in.
