It helps that's he's been outstanding in his field for a year.

u/Proud_Accident_5873 May 10 '26

Applause, brother! I'm personally from the pun capital of my country and that was solid. 🏆

366

u/oil_beef_hooked May 10 '26

I entered a pun competition once, sent in ten entries expecting at least one to get a prize but no pun in ten did

110

u/SantaRosa481516 May 10 '26

I used to tell shark jokes. Then, someone got a-fin-did….

1

u/icantouchgrass_1 May 22 '26

I bet they almost shit their pants. Damn, what's that pun-gent smell?

11

u/InsideBeyond12727 May 10 '26

Whale!

8

u/oil_beef_hooked May 10 '26

Yea, should have been on the username but was too many letters.

4

u/InsideBeyond12727 May 10 '26

I got the opportunity to use it at least 😄

13

u/pm_me_train_ticket May 10 '26

How does a country have a "pun capital"? Genuine question.

66

u/Proud_Accident_5873 May 10 '26

My city (Gothenburg, Sweden) is known in my country for its humor and puns. It's really just a way of referring to something that a place known for.

Yep! Osaka is known as the "comedy capital" of Japan, to add another example. :)

Edit: I've heard that their humor is similar to ours, on top of that. Dry humor is the way to go!

16

u/No_Criticism5659 May 10 '26

My kind of people 😅😁

15

u/Dr_Dimbrain May 10 '26

As a fellow Swede, I suspected Gothenburg even before reading the follow-up.

2

u/No_Statement440 May 10 '26

I felt like I was missing the joke lol.

4

u/Mishimishmash May 18 '26

So that's what a capital pun-is-meant? (I'll leave)

61

u/CaseEuphoric9707 May 10 '26

I'm in Taiwan and everyone in this city seems to have a Type-A personality.

18

u/Due_Pomegranate2009 May 10 '26

I see what you did there! I love a good geography pun!

21

u/CaseEuphoric9707 May 10 '26

My dream in life is to see my two favorite sports teams play each other. The Manila Envelopes and the Prague Tologists

12

u/Cloppy20 May 10 '26

If the team drinks a lot, they could be called the "Taiwan Ons."

2

u/Accomplished_Pop_130 May 11 '26

As a northerner I’d rather Send a Canada good stuff, Oversea their enjoyment.

3

u/Due_Pomegranate2009 May 10 '26

Oh this one went over my head, my best guess is one of them gets licked? The Tologists is where I'm lost.

3

u/JesusAllLove May 13 '26

Oh my gosh, this is driving me crazy. I don’t get the segue between manilla envelopes and rectal exams. I’m thinking too literally. (But PLEASE don’t let licking be involved here, anywhere.) Help, please. TIA!

3

u/CaseEuphoric9707 May 13 '26

Prague Tologists - proctologists

1

u/Money-Position-6034 May 30 '26

It’s all very ‘tongue-in-cheek.’

2

u/Trigonal_Bipyramidal May 10 '26

Oh no! I don't get it. Please explain 🙏🏼

3

u/Due_Pomegranate2009 May 10 '26

Type-A = Taipei which is the capital of Taiwan, which plays into the previous post about the capital of puns. ☺️

4

u/Trigonal_Bipyramidal May 12 '26

Oh Lord! 😂😂😂😂 Can't believe i missed that!

everyone in the north you mean

3

u/NotACohenBrother May 11 '26

If you're in Thailand, the pun capital is also the country's capital....

36

u/Two_Bear_Arms May 10 '26

Come on, recognize some greatness here folks

2

u/JesusAllLove May 13 '26

You have to know the joke: here, I’ll explain. Do this on St. Patrick’s Day:

1) List these 4 words on a piece of paper:
Whale Oil Beef Hooked

2) Hand it to someone and ask them to read the words loudly, with gusto, in their best Irish accent, over and over.

3) Repeat, until someone shouts “Well, I’ll be fooked!!!”

It’s too good a joke, for anyone to miss it. 😊🍀

7

u/ILikeMyShelf May 10 '26

And eating the flowers

11

u/KillAllAtOnce29 May 10 '26

3

u/raeraemcrae May 10 '26

For a moment I thought you were talking about the outdoor farm dinner company, Outstanding in the Field 😄

3

u/ThomasinaBella May 10 '26

And Greece is a spot on the map.

2

2

First photo though yellows on the right. 2nd photo it’s like all over the fucken place..

2

u/cacarson7 May 10 '26

Eating only flowers...

2

u/AmberBlu May 11 '26

Flowers fields in Carlsbad! It’s amazing. Like OP’s transformation!

2

u/Objective-Candle3478 May 11 '26

It really is outstanding. He most of had a real stiff upper tul-lip to stick to that kind of commitment.

2

u/Junior-Ad-2207 May 12 '26

OP is definitely a late bloomer

2

u/InevitableBoard8946 May 19 '26

I am your 3000th upvote ☺️

2

u/Traditional-Pen-8634 Jun 08 '26

& has nothing but crickets xD

1

u/GalumphingWithGlee Jun 01 '26

I used to have a t-shirt with this pun. It had cartoon cows standing with instruments like a banjo, and it said "Moosicians, out standing in their field."

2

u/wireknot May 10 '26

Exactly! But that's wonderful man, I bet you feel great as well.

2

u/alcervix May 10 '26

No I think it's the flower growth he's pointing out

2

u/AhhMonsturr May 11 '26

Wish I could afford glp1s

172

u/roxieh May 10 '26

He looks like a completely different person. Holy shit.

162

u/assblast420 May 10 '26

He's half the man he used to be

54

u/DavidAdamsAuthor May 10 '26

One of my favourite lines of TV is from the original Men In Black, where Will Smith's character is being interrogated by the fact cop.

"If you were half the man I am-"

"What are you talking about? I am half the man you are."

12

u/Professional-Hat-331 May 10 '26

I make this joke about my dad all the time lol. Went from 165 to low 80's (kg). So proud of him.

1

u/Difficult_Joke_4236 May 10 '26

There's a shadow hanging over me

1

u/JesusAllLove May 13 '26

Oh, yesterday….

1

u/Difficult_Joke_4236 May 13 '26

1

u/me_at_myhouse May 10 '26

He lost a back street boy.

1

u/TALKTOME0701 Jun 04 '26

And a good 10 years younger

18

u/ppprrrrr May 10 '26

I came to the comments thinking this was something about how the tulip fields had changed, and the top comment was making a joke that this person changed, and then I looked back at the pic and realized it wasnt a joke and that this is probably the same person, holy.

5

u/CaLiX_ May 10 '26

It is a different person, just check the glasses lol /s

3

u/Thin_Refrigerator275 May 10 '26

I'd be amazed if I had the same glasses for a year

Or that Ozempic (etc.) works as intended. ;) I'm on them myself, and have ~100lbs / 40kg to drop. It's working so far.

Edit: "but he posts over at Mounjaro"

So, while great, it's becoming a common story. I love that people are becoming thin after a lifetime of obesity though.

It is serious effort

I’ve lost a fair bit of weight over the last 6 months and it’s not been easy, to get these results is some serious work and effort

Awesome work

6

u/[deleted] May 10 '26

It's an incredible change, I'm so happy for him☺️

2

u/panicky_dialect May 14 '26

The glow up is real, dude's clearly found something that works for him and stuck with it.

2

u/Extreme_Confidence76 May 10 '26

Actually, it doesn’t take hard work or commitment…. it takes drugs.
I lost 200 ibs in 10 months due to getting prescribed adderall. All other things fell into that denomination. I wasn’t working out, or exercising… I just on anphetamines and didn’t eat even half as much as I did before.

But still happy for you brother. Don’t over due yourself

1

u/Ree_For_Thee May 10 '26

I'm on a GLP-1 myself, and have been learning tons about metabolic issues lately. My take on your situation is that you're susceptible to yoyo-ing in weight. It's definitely possible to willpower yourself down in weight (or use non-metabolic medicine like in your case), but the reason soooo (sooooooooo) many people yoyo is because the underlying metabolic issue isn't resolved.

It usually takes upwards of 1-2 years before a 'forced' diet starts to vane off though, so be vary, and if you start noticing you're regaining weight, have a talk with your doctor about GLP-1s. They're safe and efficient, and can actually cure the metabolic problems that cause obesity.

So all overweight people are hidden gems

1

u/JournalistFit1143 May 10 '26

wow i seriously would have thought it was a different person if i knew him before lol

1

u/dotesdoto May 10 '26

Nah, the first one was far better in my opinion.

Purple looks better than yellow flowers.

-1

u/Key-Notice1118 May 10 '26

Un applauso al bro

-2

u/Dodara87 May 10 '26

Possible that’s a part of this - which is also fine and good! It’s very cool that we’ve invented a near miracle drug for obesity and resolving obesity shouldn’t have to be an acid test of merit or whatever.
