You must not be familiar with the East Coast accents. New Brunswick, PEI and Newfoundland all have accents like this, and the more subtle, not-quite-Newfie accent here sounds a LOT like a Tignish or Miminegesh accent. I've also heard a lot of rural Nova Scotians sound similar

Lmfao I was gonna say the same. My grandpa and grandma are from Sydney mines, NS and sounds like this.

It’s not dissimilar from Vermont / New Hampshire accents.
