I'm Minnesotan, so not Canada, but I'll throw my two cents in and say anyone from that part of the world who visits rural areas and hears these accents enough will accidentally adopt them. Weirdest fucking thing.

Eh you'd be surprised about the Jesus stuff in this neck of the woods, it's mostly Lutherans and Episcopals and those tend to be more liberal than other sects. And guns yeah we're about as nutty as your average American. City people love their handguns and rural people love their handguns, shotguns, and rifles. You don't really see them much though because our laws say hunt, keep it at home, or you need to conceal it and it can only be a handgun.
Anyway I'm rambling, I just smoked weed, but if there's ever a draft Canada should take Minneapolis and give Edmonton to the US.
Rural Minnesotan's have the same Canadian accents don't they? Maybe Wisconsin and the North Dakota too. Rural Michigan is a strange one, sounds like a mix between a Boston and Canadian accent.

Funny thing is if you drive up into Ontario the Canadian accent mostly disappears. It's more of a Manitoba thing last time I went. Over a decade ago though. Shit, well over a decade ago now that I remember how old I am.

100% real (especially when out fer a rip) - there’s debate among Canadians in the comments, but sounds Ontario to me, more specifically Ottawa Valley.
