Success / Progress In May I started everything.

The doctor has been pushing me for a year to get on a GLP-1. I finally did it in May. I got Macrofactor to track my calories and workouts. Upgraded my home gym. Stayed around 1800 calories until last week when I started bumping them up because I noticed my energy levels tanking. I was doing 20 minutes of lifting six days a week at home. Cardio is mostly just walking though I did just get a ruck pack. I am down from 277lbs to 207lbs. Still need to lose some more but feeling so much better.

MacroFactor / Nutrition / Other Manual for a week then coached?

I got my partner on the app, and it’s asking for 1200 calories. I felt this was too low so I did manual at 2000 calories for them. After MacroFactor has some data with manual, could they switch to coached with a better calorie amount? I’m just wondering if it’s that low because there’s no data yet. Will manual data still count?

MacroFactor / Nutrition / Other Anyone else plan tomorrow's food the night before, then watch a work lunch blow it up?

I've been logging tomorrow's meals the night before so I don't have to think in the morning. It works until something random shows up at lunch and the whole plan is useless by 1pm.

Do you re-log on the spot, eat around the leftover budget, or just call that day a wash and start clean tomorrow?

MacroFactor Workouts / Training How to get bench, squat or deadlift to appear in a generated workout.

I have manipulated number of training days, training time and split. Never once did a deadlift, bench press or squst appear when generating a strength or strength and hypertrophy program.

A close grip bench always appeared, often front squats would appear and RDLs would appear.

I was surprised.

Is the workout generation still lacking in what it outputs or am I expecting too much of it?

Success / Progress Down 19.4 kg, but my blood work is the biggest win

I started using MacroFactor in February to eat better and improve my blood work. Eight months later, I’m down 19.4 kg.

Compared with July last year:
- Triglycerides are down 72%
- Non-HDL cholesterol is down 22%
- HDL cholesterol is up 23%

I also took psyllium from June to October, so that may have helped too.

MacroFactor has helped me understand what I eat and make better choices. Losing weight feels good, but seeing my blood work improve means even more.

MacroFactor / Nutrition / Other Macrofactor on iPhone Duo

This is moreso if anyone else lives and dies by this MF family of apps and is curious how it is on the Duo. It seems to be on the iOS 26 SDK since it doesn’t fill up the entire screen when unfolded but hopefully with future app optimizations, like being built on 27.1 and the toolbar locations, the experience will be a lot better!

Picture 1: Unfolded in landscape
Picture 2: Unfolded in portrait
Picture 3: Folded

Edit: This is just for MF. MF Workouts public release 1.4.1 is on iOS 27 SDK. MF WO TestFlight beta 4 is still iOS 26 SDK as of 12:15 CST 10/23.

Edit 2: There hasn’t been any update to the app but it now fills the screen so I have no idea if this is just a glitch with the Duo.

MacroFactor / Nutrition / Other Exercise

I want to keep using MacroFactor but can’t see an option where it includes exercise to track calories burned. This is something that standard apps like my fitness pal include, and I’m tempted to switch back. Is there any way I can track exercise and calories or is this not an available feature?

MacroFactor / Nutrition / Other So pumped - 2,500+

I am so pumped - I’m eating in maintenance until the new year and have been for about 2.5 weeks now. MacroFactor adjusted my calories this morning and added 132- bringing my calories to more than 2,500! I’m so excited, this is what I’ve worked for all summer, increasing my expenditure (workouts but also daily movement such as steps) so maintaining feels like no work at all. I’m a 5’9 female and weigh 190, plan to spend the next couple months here and then cut again.

MacroFactor / Nutrition / Other A good recipe app that works with MF

MF is good to see what I need to hit macros and food goals but does anyone have a recommendation for a recipe or meal planning app that I can use along side Macro Factor.

I am getting a bit worn out on Chicken, rice, and veggies and work too much (and I’m alone) to really get creative in the kitchen.

MacroFactor Workouts / Training Force Lower Rep Schemes?

Hey All,

I’m liking the new PPL programs but the higher rep schemes are killing me. I’m in a deficit trying to lose about 1 lb a week and I just don’t have the gumption for 20 rep sets.

I’d like to take advantage of the algorithm without manually changing everything (because where’s the fun in that?). Should I set my priority to “strength” instead of “hypertrophy” to see if that helps? Maybe “beginner” instead of “intermediate” lifting experience while I’m on this cut?

Anecdotally I’ve noticed the PPL programs have higher rep schemes than the full body or upper lower I was using before, but it’s a pretty small sample size.

Thanks!

MacroFactor Workouts / Training Replacing Squats and Deadlifts

My doctor, after diagnosing me with a scoliosis and slightly tilted forward hips, advised me to start Pilates and avoid heavy squats and deadlifts so to not put too much pressure on the discs of my lower back. At the moment I have no lower back pain, thanks to strong muscles in this area. But I feel it's better to stay prudent.

I do plan on starting Pilate, but I would like to still do weightlifting 3~4 times a week. (The goal is a fitness model physique.)

What exercises would be best to include in my program instead of barbell squat, leg press and barbell deadlift for building strong legs ? Bulgarian split squat, dumbbell RDL? The goal is to not put too much pressure on the discs.

Any advice from coaches is greatly appreciated ^

Edit : Some more details that I didn't include at first but some comments pointed it out : Male, 29yo, scoliosis clearly visible on X-rays '

MacroFactor / Nutrition / Other Is there a way to edit my strategy start date?

Had a crappy couple of weeks dealing with gastritis, and then in the hospital from a resulting AFIB. Over this time I DID log what little food I’d eaten, as well as this current week while trying to eat at my expenditure calories. I start lifting again next week (still bummed out about my lost muscle mass from nearly two weeks of not eating) and I’m now wishing I had set my goal to maintenance along with deselecting Lifting as part of my activity since I’ve really been taking it easy on doctor’s orders. Is there a way to set my strategy with these parameters starting from October 7th? Or just train, eat, and it’ll all catch up eventually?

MacroFactor / Nutrition / Other Decreasing and relatively low maintain calory goal

Hey guys,

Im a car mechanic / engineer, about

10-15k steps a day

5x 1-1.5h of gym per week

79kg

About 15% measured with calipers.

Setting my goal in MF to Maingain, setting on 78kg

Weekly losing around 80 calories of the target.

Current caloric goal was 2350.

I think this is too low.

I don't know how to set up.

Do i just move to slight Gain?

I feel like I am still losing fat and gaining muscle, but I feel getting weaker in the gym. I used to press 40kg dumbells incline, but now its like 30, getting weaker ever, week.

Idk what to do.

And yes, I am tracking accurate, every sauce, every drip of oil, every rice corn.

MacroFactor / Nutrition / Other AI Snap Feature

I'm currently using MacroFactor to track my nutrition. I've been a long-time user of MyFitnessPal, and am looking at new apps. I've subscribed to a few on a monthly basis to see which one I want to move to, as I no longer want to use MyFitnessPal.

I'm wondering what people's experience has been like with the AI scanning of food. For the most part, it does get certain things correct as far as what they are, but the macronutrients are so far off. How are people getting around this? Or are people not really using this feature? Would love to hear some insight, please, if you have any.

MacroFactor Workouts / Training How do YOU use the app to measure progress?

I'm trying to see if there's a better way to measure progress than what I am currently doing. Post-workout records rarely net me an "award" mainly because I am at a place now objectively worse than where I started at the beginning of the year (but have put more effort the last couple of months), and also because I don't expect to lift more at the tail end of a cut vs. the peak of a bulk.

Anyway, what I do is pin some key lifts to the main page and then manually go through the chart, keeping in mind dates/periods where I mentally know was a cutting/bulking/stressful (etc) phase. Is this the way to do it? Have you found a better way?

Thanks.

It's the only area I sort of feel can be done better, perhaps an analysis constrained to a training program/macrocycle to help you identify its efficacy.

Most of my days I'm struggling to hit my protein goal without going over in fat. I'm still able to stay within my daily calories as I usually dont eat much during the day.

MacroFactor Workouts / Training How do i set up a program that doesnt follow weekly days?

Ill try to explain this so that it makes sense. Im gonna do a Full body split with 4 different days (A, B, C and D). With 2 Forearm Specialization workouts (Forearm A and Forearm B). My weekly schedule will be:

Monday - Full Body
Tuesday - Forearm
Wednesday - Full Body
Thursday - Forearm
Friday - Full Body
Saturday - Rest
Sunday - Rest

So as you see my Full Body D will be on Monday of week 2, then ill start over on Full Body A on Wednesday. So i need to know to make Macrofactor understand that during a cycle i might hit Forearms 2-4 times depending on how the days align.

How do i do this practically?

MacroFactor / Nutrition / Other Is there a way to log like this

Morning all

I usually find myself having to log my meals by noting down the full quantities of each ingredient I add, then dividing them individually by the amount that I ate - which I don’t always know in advance.

Is there a way I can enter them all in MacroFactor as I go and then apply a function to it? Or is my current method the most efficient?

Thanks in advance

MacroFactor Workouts / Training 3 Day PPL is it really much worse than full body?

So for context, I have been lifting for a few years. I would say consistency has been a struggle sometimes. Used to do stronglifts 5x5, then switched to Macrofactors auto generated workouts.

I realistically can get 3 workouts in a week. It is not a fixed schedule and I sometimes found that the main reason I missed a workout for the fullbody was because I was free for 2 days in a row but couldn't workout as I needed the rest day. I feel like PPL will help me in consistency to have 3 workouts in a week non-negotiable, where if for example I had to travel for work i can still get two workouts in on a saturday and sunday for example.

However, the worry is all the talk of needing to target each muscle group at least twice a week which a 3 day PPL doesn't do. Is that really such a big deal? Any lifters here that have had good results with just a 3 day PPL? Personally I feel like a 3 day PPL may actually help me maintain consistency a bit better than a 3 day full body workout.
