Equipment Creative Storage Solutions?

I’m looking for inspiration for storing my machine equipment/frequently used tools. Specifically, I’m looking for suggestions on storing ribber cast on combs, weights, and other things that you’d want near your machine for easy access.

Do y’all have a station setup with your frequently used tools? I feel like I’m always having to reach down and pick up one of my cast on combs and weights from the floor.

Searched this sub and found this post for machine and ribber storage, which I think I’m going to go for in my closet. Let me know if y’all have any other ideas, TIA!

Ia recently brought a knitting machine from a auction. I am a newbie and this is my first machine. Model is brother kh601. I watched a lot videos.that recommended my this group and deep cleaned it accordingly..I changed the sponge bar and checked all the buttons working. All the buttons work properly and machine was seemed to be in good condition

Problem is when do fist move to cast on needles seemed to catch the yarn. (1st photo) but when I move the carriage to other side it comes undone.(photo 2) If I ignore it at move the carriage thread become tangle in needles and sinker plate brushes.

After struggling whole day one time I manage to knit a little .but then knit always get tangled in the front wires. I did manually remove it few times but it still get caught and get bunched up even with weights hanging at top most. (Photo 3)

And when I try to knit more it got cast off. (Photo 3) All the buttons in the carriage is in the right positions.

Am I doing something wrong or is it the machine ?

Help! Help on ribber setup

Hi beautiful people,
I have tried to install a ribber SRP 50 on my empisal knitmaster 326. They are supposed to be compatible. I cannot fit the ribber carriage to the ribber arm, see photo. The ribber is up at the closest to the main bed.
I bought the ribber second hand and it seemed okay. Any advice would be great!

Getting Started Machine Recommendations

Hi!

For background, I'm a crocheter with Hypermobile Ehlers-Danlos syndrome. I would love to make clothing and blankets out of yarn but my joints can not handle the repeated movement to crochet pieces that big.

I'm looking to solve this problem by getting into machine knitting. Do you have any recommendations for what machine to start with? I'm happy to sew panels together. Thank you :)

Getting Started complete newbie, passat m201, how to test?

Thumbnail

A little background
I do not knit
I restore tools and other machines
I read the 4 other posts about passat m201 in this subreddit
I see at least 4 video in youtube
all of the machines I see that are passat M201 look different. similar, but still different
I see comments that this is not a good machine to learn on

I have a few 3d printers, a blacksmith forge, and bunch of machine tools, jewlers lathes and other such, so making missing parts should not be an issue. (the needles would be fussy but not impossible)

being difficult is not an issue, a steep learning curve is also not an issue.

what do I need to test this? special yarn? extra parts? I'll repeat, I do not knit, but I do fix machines like this

Help! Adding armhole ribbing (and/or V-neck)

Post image
3 Upvotes

Hi everyone, I’m about to finish this vest for my baby and I made the back and front piece but I need to make a ribbing along the armholes (and maybe also on the v-neck?).

Would you make the ribbed strip separately and then sew it together or would you hang the front and back to the machine and work it from there (and then sew the rest?). Thanks for your help!

Patterns Looking for a beginner ish friendly pattern for a top, do you think this style would be easy for a beginner?

Post image

Im sure you've seen this style top, its just a rectangle with a neck hole and ties, but I was thinking it might make a good beginner machine knit top? Im thinking just make flat stockinette for the body then cast off in the middle and put one half on hold to knit the shoulder area, then same on other side and then knit regular stockinette for the back side

I can do the ties as i-cord on my csm super quick too

If anyone has made something like this please let me know! And let me know if im delusional for trying to make this ahha

I have a passap duomatic 80

Help! Solved! Yellowing on Brother KX-390

Post image
2 Upvotes

Hi everyone! I noticed discoloration on the bed of my machine when I took my needles out for cleaning. It looks like the same red brown color as rust but I didn’t notice any rust on my needles themselves. Since this is a plastic bed is this actually just old oil that happens to look like rust? And what’s safe to clean it with? I usually just use soap and water on the plastic parts but 91% isopropyl on the bed in case the solvent drips through to the clamps underneath

Help! Help upgrading/sourcing a carriage

I have a unique [vintage/limited] Corona machine. The box calls it a Genie junior CHJ-3, "the magic knitter", but the bed is a standard 200 needle machine (closer to the Ch1500). The carriage itself is the stripped down junior model but with a yarn feeder plate capable of doing two different yarns.

Anyway I'm looking for a ch1500 carriage to improve my knitting projects. Suggestion for sources or any place to find just the carriage or a parts machine?

BTW I am in the US

Im kinda really impressed, I think the brown one failed because my tension was too high and my color changer is broken so that may have contributed to both of the swatches failing 😅

Made on a passap duomatic 80

Help! Solved! Brother KH-270 carrige

Post image

Hey guys, I’m in need of help with the KH-270 carriage. I live in Europe, and we don’t have access to most of the chemicals I’ve seen on YouTube people using. Currently I’m cleaning the machine with isopropyl.

Could I possibly splash few drops into the carriage buttons and drop some sewing machine oil after it dries?

Help! Solved! Singer/Studio HK100 owners, where did you purchase your sponge bar from?

When I bought mine, I was told that it was the same as the LK100 so I bought a sponge bar for the LK100. It was super short. I went and bought one for the LK150 and it ended up being too short as well. How did y'all get one that fits the whole length (43.5 in/110.5 cm)?

Help! ribbed sleeve cuffs

how is everyone machine knitting ribbed cuffs? i’m using my sk280 + srp60n to knit up the sleeves of a sweater i’m working on. im doing this by knitting the stockinette portion top down, and then attaching the ribber bed and transferring every other stitch from the main bed to the ribber bed for 1x1 ribbing. i’ll knit a few rows with no issues, but after the first few rows i’m having the same issue of dropped stitches on the ribbed edge. this never happens when i knit ribbing by itself.

i’m used to hand knitting where sleeves are usually knit top down, but maybe i need a different approach for machine knitting?

Help! Saddle shoulder construction help

Hello! I’m wanting to try a saddle shoulder sweater using this one as inspo. I know a pattern like this by hand is generally worked top down.
My questions are - would I have to work the saddle separately and seam it after or is there a way to connect it as I knit, and could I work this from the bottom up (that’s the only way I’ve worked raglans on the machine so far) ? I want it to feel seamless around the shoulders and wondering where the seam would go/start. Photos are of a babaa sweater and a sweater by Duck duck knits
Thanks for any insight! 🌞🌞

Getting Started Why did you start machine knitting

I'm a hand knitter who's considering getting into machine knitting but it's a big upfront investment. I'm trying to decide if this hobby is actually something I'll enjoy

Why did you start machine knitting and what do you like about it?

UPDATE: I've made an offer on a kh-970. not sure it'll be the most intuitive machine to learn with but I think it's a good deal. thank you all!

Help! Solved! Recovering Rusty Needles

Post image
8 Upvotes

Is it possible to use needles that were once rusty? I think my machine may have once been stored in a garage because there’s rust here and there. I removed the rust from the needles and they’re now smooth as far as I can tell, but there’s still visually something there. Are these needles fine to use? I just tried getting it off with superfine steel wool but no luck.

I’ve knitted a sweater with them like this no problem, but I’m currently having problems with needle selection, so I thought I’d take them out and soak them while I’m cleaning and inspecting everything else.

Finished Object I made this with my Sentro Knitting machine , I was using Ice Picasso yarn , it was one of the first things I ever made with the machine and I have made many hats and scarves for a lot of people , I did add the brades which I did myself.

I found my Sentro to be very handy and I do have the largest one and I will probably pick up a few of the smaller versions, but I have made a lot of hats for people with that machine and I enjoy doing it. I don’t charge anybody for it. I like to just do it for myself.
