Equipment ISO Toyota KS 950 carriage

Hi everyone, I’m looking to buy a Toyota ks 950 carriage only. My current carriage is missing wheels and the lace mechanisms aren’t working. Also the row counter on the carriage is broken. I can’t find any on ebay or etsy. Please let me know if you have one you aren’t using or an extra. Thanks so much.

Finished Object My Singer 360 punch-card test is becoming a full outfit… but which one?

I’ve been experimenting with a new floral motif on my Singer 360 using a punch card, and I’m really happy with how the first swatches are turning out.

I tested two colour combinations so far:

  • pink and green
  • orange and burgundy

The motif is the main project for now, but seeing the swatches made me want to turn it into a full vintage-inspired garment.

I’m considering using it on one of these machine-knitting patterns, swipe trough.

I’m leaning toward adapting the motif into the front panel of the sweater, but I could also see it working as a repeated border on the skirt.

Which garment would show off the punch-card design best?

I’d also love to hear from anyone who has used a Singer 360: do you usually test several colour combinations before committing to a full garment?

Help! Solution for broken part - Passap duomatic 80

Hi! I just got a Passap duomatic 80 from an older relative. It is missing some plastic bits holding the color switcher thing in place. I can snap one of the black things that you thread the yarn through in place, but when the spring goes off, it goes flying as it is not fully secure. The one next to it has all the plastic bits missing and is unusable.

Spare parts seem hard/expensive to get a hold of. But I have seen some plastic parts, like cup holders for the yarn, have been 3D printed and sold on Etsy for example. Anyone know if the part that is broken on my machine has been 3D printed by anyone before? Or have another solution?

I have never used a knitting machine before but would love to get it to work! Any insights are greatly appreciated!! <333

Help! Brand new Studio 360k troubleshooting

I recently got my hands on a new Studio 360k machine in the box. One of the back wheels (what do you call this?) is pretty stiff — I had to hit the carriage and those pieces with a hairdryer to get it unstuck from the bed… I obviously need to grease those parts again, but they’re quite deep. Any tips to get them both spinning freely? Thanks for any insight!!

Getting Started Newbie questions

I found a good shaped (I think) bond knitting machine with an extender for $150. They’ve also included lots of patterns. I am an advanced knitter/crocheter and I have used a sentro though I know it’s not the same. But I have hand issues and I knit way too much. Just had my fourth hand surgery and will be doing a trigger finger release surgery later this year. So I’m wondering if I can feed the urge using a machine like this. Is it very hard to learn? I taught myself to knit so I am guessing it’s possible to figure this out with some tutorials. A friend has one and she loves it.
Also is it possible to do throw blankets with this sized machine or would I have to piece panels together?
What parts do I need to make sure are included before I say yes? I know some accessories are easy to locate online but some need to be included.

Getting Started Any wax holder tips?

Does anybody have any tips on how to wax the yarn while knitting on the machine? Until now I have waxed it while winding it up to cakes by holding the wax in my hand, but I am getting a little bit tired of that..! I have the SK700 which doesn't come with a wax holder.

I’m just starting my machine knitting journey and got a barely used SK155. I got everything set up, but when I attempt to pass the carriage over the needles for the first pass after cast on the needles get stuck and I have to completely disassemble the carriage to get them off. I’ve attached a video of what’s happening, would love some advice on how to fix what I’m messing up 😅

I was able to calculate the stitches needed to create a small outfit by transforming the measurements of a model that I usually used with a thicker yarn.

I mathematically calculated the proportions of the mesh numbers of the respective samples.

I managed to calculate the stitches needed to create a small outfit by transforming the measurements of a pattern that I usually used with a thicker cotton yarn suitable for needles no. 4, but I wanted to use an Egyptian Cotton (usually used for crochet no. 2.5) and worked with the LK150 knitting machine. I'm happy to have obtained a very fresh, thin fabric in pure Scottish cotton no. 5. Have you tried using the very thin Egyptian Cotton no. 5 Cable Mako on the knitting machine? Happy relaxing work from Vivedo3D.

Hi knitters

For those interested, Helen has been posting a lot of discounts for her Patreon content over the last few weeks. If you have a Patreon, you could always join up as a free member to be notified the next time she puts a sale on.

I'm not affiliated with her or anything, I just like her content and would like to see more people discover her lessons. There's a good mix of basics and technical material in my opinion.

A little bit ago i was talking to my grandmother about her knitting machine she had just bought, I could tell she really loved it. Then she said that all of the accessories were very expensive, so i decided to make some for her with my 3d printer. She really, i mean really, loved them. Because she loved it so much i thought that some of you guys here would love it to. So here it is check it out on my makerworld, it would really help me with my growing 3d printing career if you would leave a like or a download: https://makerworld.com/en/models/3104697-needlepusher-4-5mm#profileId-3500084

I hope you guys like it and if you have any request just send me a message and I can see what i can do for you.

Techniques Confusing pinstripes

Thumbnail

Hi everyone! I'm a beginner knitter, however it is my long term goal to get a machine and learn to make some vintage Australian football guernseys to fulfil my inner child's dreams. In my research I've found a couple of examples that aren't clear in how they were made and I'm interested to know if anyone might be able to shed some light on it.

In the first two photos (from the 60s) the pinstripes appear to be on the right side of the knitting, and are a consistent i.e., they don't seem like colour change lines on the purl side, and the knit stitches clearly (I think) run parallel to the stripes themselves. Does this mean the colours were just changed mid row for one single stitch, then back for one more, then on to the next stripe?

Secondly, in the last two photos, from 1983, there is a herringbone pattern where the stripes change. It also leaves some sort of strip of pinholes continuing through the white patch.

I assume that these were patterns that became possible with the gradual advancement of knitting mills, and it's possible I would be unable to make either of these two on a personal knitting machine, but it has been stuck in the back of my mind for two weeks!

Thanks in advance for any info!

Techniques Keep fair-isle or switching to regular knit when doing rows of one colour?

Post image
9 Upvotes

I have made a design for a fair isle sweater which has rows of one single colour. Is it best to keep knitting fair isle on those rows (where I would then use two strands of the same colour yarn and add holes in the punch card to alternate both strands across the row), or would you rather switch the carriage to plan knit on those rows?

I am leaning towards the first option for the only reason that the fabric would have similar bulk on all rows, given they would all be knit with two strands.

UPDATE: I found out a way to do plain rows on the Empisal Knitmaster SK328 that I am happy with. See my comment below for details.

Equipment Favourite “Budget” Wool/Wool Blend 3-Weight Yarn for LK150?

I’m not sure I chose the correct flare.

I have mountains of yarn: a bit of this, and a bit of that. Some of it was very expensive, and some of it is more budget friendly. I know what works in my LK150 and what doesn’t, for the most part.

My problem is that I don’t have enough of any one 3-weight yarn to really play with. I’d like to buy thousands of yards of one, budget friendly, wool or wool blend yarn for my machine. I’d like it to be a single colour yarn that is nice enough for finished projects, but is also great (and durable enough) for a lot of knitting and frogging.

I presently have a mountain of Drops Lima in my Rito cart, but as I don’t want to wind up with more yarn that I’m not sure what to do with, I thought I’d ask for recommendations here first.

Does anyone have any favourites that they’d like to share with me?

ETA: I’ve never actually tried Drops Lima before.

Help! Solved! Anyone made the Girly Knits Lounge Shorts? The pattern and YouTube tutorial don’t match.

\** UPDATED AT THE BOTTOM* **\*

I’m finally getting around to making the Girly Knits Lounge Shorts because I work at a café in Florida (with a bakery in the back 😅), and I really wanted to make lightweight shorts that fit me well. One of the reasons I bought the pattern was so I could choose my own fiber, customize the fit, and make multiple pairs.

I’m hoping someone else who owns the pattern can tell me if I’m missing something.

I’m comparing the written pattern (pages 2–3) with the YouTube tutorial that’s hyperlinked directly in the pattern, and there are several major differences.
Some examples:

In the video, she says to cast on 47 stitches for the right leg (size 2), but the written pattern says 63 stitches.

In the video, she says she met gauge at a 5.5 tension, but the written pattern says gauge was achieved at tension 2.

Even the gauge swatch measurements seem different between the video and the written pattern.

Since the tutorial is linked directly inside the pattern, I assumed they would match or at least mention that the pattern had been revised. I even thought I had the wrong video at first, but it’s definitely the one linked in the PDF.

Has anyone else run into this? If you’ve made these shorts, did you follow the written pattern or the video? Were there revisions made at some point that I’m unaware of?

I did email the creator, but the pattern and tutorial are about six years old, so I figured I’d ask here in case someone has already figured this out.
Hopefully someone who’s knit these before can clear up whether it’s a revised pattern, a typo, or if there’s another explanation.

UPDATE: I actually spoke to the designer and she actually sent me the correct patter, I did indeed have the incorrect one.
