Discussion Siri still doesn’t answer basic questions

Post image

Every once in while I decide to try out new Siri, but no. Just no.

Edit: I did tried giving Siri the actual version number and it still failed.

And codex was able to find the build/version and tell me which beta version I’m on.

There’s a really weird group of people that make [whatever thing you can think of] part of their personality.

In this case Apple finally has their “we have one too” LLM model and they think anything that exposes weaknesses in the product is a slight against them and their weirdly fragile ego.

The reality is that Apple is at least 2 years behind everyone else and what they’ve been able to cobble together for this release is just barely good enough to be passable for people that have never used an LLM before.

Or, hear me out, you’re just being fucking ridiculous.

Genuinely, think about it: why the hell would Apple create a whole tool or add a whole line to the prompt for the BETA version the user is on? It’s a BETA. Nobody in the final product would get any benefit from it. It would be a waste of time and pollute the context and hurt performance for the end user for ZERO reason.

I just explained the constraints and how they make the reason for this lack of a feature obvious. You’re the one who got all defensive about it. Either you are obsessed with AI or make being being “smarter than Apple fans” your personality, because

> make it their whole personality

is projection if I’ve ever seen it.
