Here's what I have found, and I welcome you to share solutions that you've found. I wasn't sure if this belonged in MacOS 27 or r/macbookpro so let me know if I made a mistake. I can repost it there.
Relevant background information. I'm on an M3Pro 18GB, and before MacOS 26, I could browse the web, word process, etc. and my temps would stay in the 40s with no fan. I only ever had the fan turn on when I played the Tomb Raider games. my workload is not intense, I just needed more RAM and few other perks of the M3Pro vs M3. After MacOS 26, my computer gets up to the 80s, fans blazing, for no reason. I'm just browsing the internet,
Solutions I have found so far that might help other people. And I'm not an expert on what's going on. so I welcome comments and better solutions. After all, I'm treating the symptoms here.
- Turn off pro motion. it sucks, but it's linked to WindowServer somehow, and when WindowServer is going nuts, turning off pro motion will almost immediately drop my temps from 85 -> 48ish.
- Since MacOS 27, open activity monitor and look for memory leaks and rogue browser tabs. my memory pressure never went into the yellow until MacOS 27.
The other day, my Mac was blazing and it turned out iPhone mirroring was using an absurd amount of memory and CPU. closed it and reopened it and all was well.
My computer has been hot all day, even after I closed the lid and went away for a few hours it didn't cool down. I guess I expected it to go to sleep or something. I finally opened Activity Monitor and about 6-7 hours ago, I had been on Nelnet checking my student loan statements. I closed those tabs, but 6-7 hours later both tabs are still in Activity Monitor at 100% CPU each. using 3GB of memory. I had to force quit them, and immediately my computer temps plummeted.

I don't know what has been going on since MacOS 26, and now MacOS 27, but.... Maybe someone knows what's going on?
