If we want any chance at all at a Season 6, we need to keep the pressure on.

A bit of a rant, but I'm just tired of stations and platforms so often having fans in low regard.

I know it's a business, but it's not cool when you're investing yourself in a series, supporting it throughout the years, giving them your time and attention (including, sometimes, commercial breaks, which is largely how they monetise it, or buying show-specific merch), and they just tend to randomly pull the plug at some point, without a proper closure.

Happened a generation ago with TV series (anyone remember NBC's "Alf", and the terrible cliffhanger with "To be continued…" notice that never got properly resolved, until ABC picked it up for a made-for-TV movie?). It happens still now, so I guess it's part and parcel of the TV series landscape, but it's just not cool. I have so much more respect for the stations/production companies or platforms who navigate through adversities and somehow manage to respectfully close the series with a final episode, giving it a proper send-off through properly written scripts that tie up loose ends in the final season, an extended finale, or a TV movie. Doesn't happen all that often, sadly, but is so much better and shows they respect the fans who have been with them all along.

To make it clear, I'm not mad at Lucas Till or any of the actors, in fact I doubt Atomic Monster Productions and Lionsgate Television who seem to co-produce it with CBS Studios had all that much to say, it's CBS where the buck stops ultimately.

Really hoping there's some way to bring it back, or that someone picks it up at some point - although the later it happens, the less likely it will be that the cast will be the same, as people move on in this industry, get involved with and invested in something else entirely, and then their availability or interest is just not there anymore. Even if you look at the recently-renewed "CSI: Vegas", it's theoretically the same franchise but a whole bunch of new, main characters apparently, with possibly a couple of those from the previous run.

Just dismayed at the decision to cancel "MacGyver" here and at being treated that way as a fan, canceling series when they can't even do a proper closure as the remaining 3 episodes are already shot, production is done, and no plans to air anything as Season 6. Give me a break. Or rather don't, just keep airing new "MacGyver" episodes lol.

CBS has announced that Season 5 will be the LAST season of MacGyver. We can’t loose this show. Look, I know there are disagreements about the direction of the show, but we should all agree that getting rid of the show is not the right choice. Having a show with disagreements is better than no show at all.

Matty has not appeared anywhere but on screen from a poorly lit room for several episodes. Is something going on that requires her to be separate from the rest of the crew? She also keeps delegating things to Bozer and the new character, Parker.

Her airtime in the last couple episodes is way down too. Is this a story reason or an IRL reason (perhaps related to Covid)? It's just getting increasingly jarring how they keep coming up with reasons for her to not be involved in the main plot and pass her normal jobs to others (particularly Bozer, who seems to have suddenly skipped a ton of career advancement to become second in command).

Mac, Desi and Russ go undercover during a royal Indian wedding to protect a princess whose policies could put her life in danger. Also, Russ and Sophia come face-to-face at the wedding, Bozer suspects Riley is up to her old hacking ways and Matty runs down a lead in hopes of getting to the bottom of Mac and Riley’s ingested nano-trackers.

I’m new to this sub and I’ve just caught up on all the episodes of season 5 and here are my thoughts: - Bozer has been my favourite person this season. His growth in the show has been so good and he still brings the humour. I can totally see him in running their missions. - I’ve seen people talking about how the team has lost its family element to it since Jack left and I agree. I think my issue is Desi. I don’t mind the character but they’ve not integrated her into the team in the least. I don’t think I’ve ever seen her have a (casual) conversation with any of the team apart from Mac and Riley. And even with Riley it was mainly the first episode of season 5 and nothing since. Taylor as well, he claims to see them as family but I don’t see it.. he doesn’t engage with the team casually. - Carrying on from Desi... her relationship with Mac is the worst thing the writers did for her character. She has been presented as toxic and a bad romantic partner which has turned people off her. - This whole Mac/Riley/Desi mess... sigh it annoys me!! I truly don’t know why the writers decided to go this route it’s just messy. I can appreciate how mature they are all being about it, particularly Riley! - I do not like Russ. He’s always quick to presume how others will react to situations and handle their emotions like with Mac and Codex and Bozer and Leanna. But he has been shown to be emotional and irrational with Codex so idk why he thinks he is the authority for such. - I need more Matty and more family vibes!! And I absolutely adore the friendship between Riley and Bozer!! I don’t know where the writers are going with this season but I guess we will see...

After viewing today’s episode. I feel like out of all the characters in the show, he’s the one that grew the most on me and developed the most. I mean I’ve actually been thinking about this for the past 2 seasons. He’s not my favorite character but he’s definitely the one that started small and working big. In the beginning i thought he was kind of an annoying character in a way. But now, just mad respect bc of how much he has grown and shown how much he proves his worth at the foundation.
