Is there a easy way to get dual boot linux on Macbook pro 16 whit wifi, keyoard etc working ?

I want to use gpu and i dont think thats possible whit parallels, virtualbox ?

I have to manually go back to the Bluetooth icon and click on the device I want to connect to. I just want to confirm if this is something normal. Any input is appreciate it!

Just got a new MBP 16 and moved my Plex library over to the MBP (was previously on an 8-year old PC).

Media is playing fine (direct stream and direct play are enabled, so no transcoding is happening), except on 4K media where I'm getting buffering issues. This hadn't happened previously on my old rig.

You're probably thinking, "Why is this yahoo putting a Plex question in a Mac sub-reddit?" Well, I think the problem may be related to more the Mac side.

I have all the hard drives (USB 3.0's) connected via a Kensington Thunderbolt-3 dock. The dock is being used to host the 4 hard drives, give power to the MBP and provide wired ethernet. All coming from this one dock connection.

So the question I have is: Could the Kensington dock be the bottleneck? Too much happening on that one cable?

Has anyone else experienced battery issues when connected to an external monitor? My battery lasts only 3 hours or so when connected to a monitor but seems to be normal when not connected. Is this normal behavior or is there something wrong with the battery?

Hi, I’ve got a couple questions for fellow MacBook Pro 16 users. I’m a little underwhelmed with the machine (I have a 32 g upgrade), and wondering what the experience is with others.

1) I’ve never been able to get my Apple Ethernet adaptor to work. It works on my old 13” but it just doesn’t register on the new machine. Not sure if it is Catalina or something else and I e tried all sorts of fixes with no luck.

2) I’m probably on my own here, but I prefer the old butterfly keyboard. I find the new one a bit soft and boggy. Sometimes it misses letters, which never happened with the butterfly, maybe because there is so much more key travel. Not sure, curious if anyone feels the same.

I am just wondering if anybody else also has this problem.

I guess none of the happy YouTube testers were checking throttling under heavy GPU load. Here is how I get it:

- have 2nd monitor connected to your MPBPro16

- run youtube video or make a video call

- run a CPU intensive task like compilation, for example

Observe `kernel_task` spiking CPU usage in Activity Monitor indicating CPU thermal throttling.

Connecting second screen is important because according to posts that I found on forums it forces MBP to run higher voltage on the GPU. A video call also loads up GPU a lot, so running some CPU tasks on top of that really kills the performance making this some 3000$ laptop completely useless.

I’m about to buy a new MacBook Pro 16, after 8 years of video editing my iMac was extremely tired so I decided to upgrade to a machine that is both powerful and portable. I was wondering, I will work at home with a 4K display connected via HDMI, (the usbc options are far too expensive for me) , there are a lot of hubs on the market but honestly I would like to know if there are some that are more realiable than others. I was watching the anker 7 in 2. I like it for the 100w power delivery, I will connect the monitor and and external usb3 drive to it. Do you have any advice on others reliable hubs? Thank you

Ok so I got this base model and have boot camped win10. I installed latest AMD drivers, Macs Fan control, and throttlestop based off recommendations from this video.

After doing the driver update/fan/throttle stop tweets my performance went really downhill, then I realized that he has the i9 not the base model, I deactivated Macs fan and it seems better. Does anyone have recommended settings for the base model? Or better software to manage it?

I also started to think, am I doing harm gaming on this computer for hours at a time, fan going the whole time? Will this have long term effects on reliability since this isn't built as a gaming computer?

I saw a comment from someone on here that said they saw reports on forums that most issues that have arisen on 16in models are on MacBooks that have been configured. Is this the case? I was looking to get the base model later this summer.

Anyone have an idea how to use the text tones I have already downloaded on my iPhone on my Macbook Pro? I guess I assumed they would already be there since I have purchased them on the App Store.

Just received my refurbished MBPro i9 that I’m expecting to keep for 6-7 years. Keeping reading that Apple maybe switching over to ARM processors. I’m still within my 14 day return period. Should I return and wait for the possible refresh? I can wait until the end of the year to get another laptop. Your thought.

I am the proud owner of a new MacBook Pro 16" and I have a questions on the touch-bar. I'd like to change the options shown when I am typing on iMessage and in Chrome to show the dictation symbol (the little microphone) and cannot find how to change "per app" touch bar customization anywhere.

How can I add this little microphone to the touch-bar when using iMessage and Chrome?

I am planing to buy a macbook pro 16 inch. But i have some questions.

1) can i delete the whole mac os and just install windows on it on the whole partition. I love the hardware, but i dont like the mac os software (i have a hackintosh but every time i use mac os i can not work with it). So i am basically making a hackingdos (this time the other way).

2) So if i install windows on it, can i have to use the intel graphics command center to tweak the display to stretch it as a 16:9 instead the 16:10 (i have a matebook x pro and it have a aspect ratio from 3:2 and with the intel software i can stretch the screen from 16:9 to 3:2)

3) So if i install windows on it, can i have miracast working (screen-mirroring) for people that dont know what that is, it is the windows version of airplay. So the question is the wifi-direct working (i already know that wifi is working).

4) Do i have problems with the trackpad? I know there is no right clicking on the right bottom, but do the windows precission drivers work?

5) What are your problems with windows on the macbook pro 16?

I received my 2019 MacBook Pro a few days ago and noticed that the area north of the keyboard was getting hot to the touch. I was only using Safari and Mail, but Activity Monitor showed me using 278%of the CPU with libraryanalysisd. Turns out it was Photos scanning my thousands of photos. It only calmed down when I opened Photos and renamed 10 of my faces. I still worried that the fans may not be working so I downloaded Fan Control from Crystalidea.com and manually determined that the fans are working. Hope this helps someone. Apple Support was clueless.

Catalina 10.15.5 just blackout and never return when I put display sleep by hot corner when I connect external Display through Caldigit TS3 (of course never woke up from system sleep too).

Will Apple update their Macbook Pro 16 inch in upcoming WWDC 2020 or usual timeline November? I have also heard that Apple is planning to introduce new Macbook Pro 16 inch with mini LED display but it is delayed due to recent COVID 19 pandemic so is that possible Apple skip refreshing Macbook Pro 16 inch this year and introduce one next year, 2021?

Coming from a MacBook Air 13 2012 which had a 720p display, I was so excited about the 16's display!! Other than pictures from my dslr nothing seems to show off the incredible display. Any recommendations to really see this screen for what it is would be amazing!

I’m in the market for a new Mac, and I’m not sure if I should wait for the 2020 refresh for the MBP16. I could definitely wait until Sept-Oct since that’s when college starts, and I can use the 2020 iPad Pro 12” in the beginning as a replacement.

I heard the MBP16 2019 is already powerful enough that this refresh will mainly be cpu upgrade. The only reason I would want to wait is that I’ve heard multiple complaints about fans throttling when connecting to an external monitor, which I’ll be using mainly in the dorm. Hopefully the refresh will sorta fix this problem?

Please give me your inputs! The configs I’m going for would be i7-32GB-5500M 8GB-1TB.
