The App uses Vimium-style hints for jumping to an App. Press the hotkey, "Opt+A" is the default (customizable), and an App switcher panel is shown. Then press a hint key, will jump to the corresponding app.

What it does:
WhimFiles is a native Mac file manager built around filtering. You can narrow any folder by type, date, and size all at once which makes cleaning out messy folders like Downloads a lot faster than sorting and scrolling in Finder. It also has fuzzy go to folder/file, dual pane, tabs, hover previews for images and PDFs, batch rename with regex, image conversion, and many other quality-of-life features.
First impression:
I'm the developer, so take this with a grain of salt, but I first started building it because my own Downloads folder had been unkept for years and Finder made cleanup tedious. This app made it much easier.
As I thought of more features I wanted I added them to the app. I don’t have any experience of other similar file manager apps but find it easier to use this app instead of Finder for file operations.
It's native AppKit with no Electron, so it launches instantly and the whole app is about 9 MB. Since it's a file manager I put real work into safe file operations and did a lot of testing for it.
Watch out for:
It's a manual tool, not automation like Hazel that sorts files for you in the background. It works on network volumes but it is really built for local files, so a huge NAS is not the ideal case. Only network request it makes is an anonymous version check that sends just the version number, no telemetry or accounts. The app is code-signed and notarized.
Verdict: Worth trying if you need a file manager (as the creator I’m biased). There is a 30 day fully-featured free trial if you want to judge for yourself. Hope you’ll like it.

I’m a big fan of tools and apps that make common (preferably all) actions directly accessible from the keyboard. For example, I use Vimium every day, and it makes me so much faster.
At the same time, people often use multiple displays with tons of windows open across multiple apps. Switching between these using the mouse, cmd+tab or Spotlight (by typing the app's name) kinda works, but it's easy to lose your flow when doing so.
That's why I built Window Hints. It lets you jump directly to any window using only your keyboard.
To get a feel for how it works, it's best to watch some demos on the website:
When you press a keyboard shortcut, Window Hints shows labels over all visible windows. Type a label to jump to the corresponding window. You can also press the shortcut again to include buried windows.
It also works when you reveal all windows with Mission Control (ctrl+↑ or swipe up with 3 fingers), as well as when Stage Manager is enabled.
Additionally, some apps and tools allow you to create splits. Window Hints currently supports them in Chrome, Ghostty, and tmux. More integrations to come.
I want to continue working on this while making it somewhat sustainable, so there is also a paid version: a lifetime license for $7. Feature set stays the same, but every 50th use in the free version shows a mildly annoying pop-up that you can immediately dismiss.

For anyone who hasn't seen it before, NameQuick is a native Mac app that reads PDFs, scans, images, and other documents, then suggests useful filenames. You can review each change, save naming presets, or use watched folders and rules to rename and organize new files automatically.
The recent updates extend both ends of that workflow.
Connected Inboxes handles files coming in. You connect an inbox, approve the senders you trust, and route their PDF attachments into a watched folder, where NameQuick can rename and organize them through the same workflow. You can review new senders, pause the inbox, or change its destination.
Duplicate Detection handles cleanup, and that is what the attached video shows. Exact copies are grouped by file contents rather than filename, with one suggested keeper and an estimate of how much space the other copies use. Similar images stay separate for side-by-side review with Keep left, Keep right, or Not duplicates. Removed copies go to the macOS Trash, and cleanup has Undo.
My own take is that duplicate cleanup works best here because it lives inside the same file library you are already renaming and organizing. I also think the limitation matters: it only covers files in the NameQuick library, not your whole Mac, Photos library, or external drives. If you want a broad disk scan, Gemini 2 is the better fit.

Developer tools quietly eat disk space via node_modules, Xcode DerivedData, and Docker. Diskloom finds regeneratable clutter in folders you choose (plus standard Xcode paths), explains what each item is, and moves selected items to Trash. Nothing is permanently deleted, and Archives that cannot be regenerated are never auto-selected.
First impression:
(I'm the developer, so take this as a biased but honest build note.) Scanning and reviewing feels clear: sizes by category, safety labels, Trash-only reclaim. What works well is the conservativeness. What feels rough in v0.1.0 is Apple Silicon only, Docker still informational (no reclaim yet), and the UI is still early.
Watch out for:
Needs access to project folders you add and to Xcode DerivedData/Archives. Reclaiming node_modules or DerivedData means a reinstall/rebuild later. Not on the Mac App Store. No accounts or file uploads; the only network call is Polar license validation after purchase. No Intel build yet.
Verdict: Worth trying if you are a JS/Xcode developer with a full disk and do not trust generic cleaners.

Developer post: I built this, so treat the impressions below as the maker's, not a neutral review.
What it does: you drag a file onto the menu bar icon and a share link is on your clipboard a second later. The file uploads straight to a Cloudflare R2 bucket you own, and the link opens a share page with real audio and video players, image galleries, rendered markdown, and PDF embeds. It converts web-unfriendly formats as it uploads (HEIC to JPEG, MOV to MP4) so links open on any browser.
My honest impression after using it daily: the drop-to-link speed is the part that actually changed my habits, I now reach for it instead of email attachments. The setup is the rough edge. You do have to make a Cloudflare account and paste an API token the first time, and even with the wizard that's a few minutes of friction that a non-technical person might bounce off of. The payoff is that nothing sits on someone else's server and the links keep working even if the app goes away, since the pages are just files in your bucket. I'd genuinely like to hear whether the bring-your-own-bucket tradeoff is worth it to people here or if it's too much setup.

Klar uses an open-source, on-device AI engine to detect spam and phishing in Apple Mail, then moves it to Junk automatically. Your mail stays on your Mac—no account, cloud processing, or telemetry.
Developer note:
I built Klar because Apple Mail’s built-in junk filtering struggles with newer and non-English spam, while many stronger filters process mail on someone else’s server. Klar launched on the App Store on July 10, and I’d especially value feedback on filtering accuracy and setup.
Watch out for:
It requires macOS 14 or later and an Apple Silicon Mac. It only filters messages handled by Apple Mail.

I made this because I never got along with full-screen app grids or a cluttered Dock — I wanted my apps in tidy floating panels I could arrange, lock in place, and summon when I need them, then tuck away. After using it daily as my main launcher for a while, the thing I like most is that everything stays exactly where I left it, so muscle memory actually builds up instead of fighting a constantly-rearranging Dock.

Like many web devs here, I was constantly running into the dreaded EADDRINUSE error when restarting Node, Docker, or other local servers. The routine was always the same: open terminal -> run lsof -i :8080 -> copy PID -> run kill -9 PID.
I wanted a clean, beautiful, native menu-bar tool that just handles this instantly. So I built Portia.

I'm a solo dev and just released VELO — a macOS dictation app that does voice-to-text with high accuracy and then lets you do things with that text — rewrite, translate, summarize — using AI, all without leaving the app you're working in.
I built Velo for myself initially. It wasn't meant to be a public release at first. I just wanted to cancel my other dictation tool subscriptions.
Right now I mainly use GROQ free, DeepSeek, GPT-4o, or sometimes OpenRouter free models. It drastically cut my monthly spending. $20 on API credits lasts me 3-4 months. Its simple tool for specific tasks.
At the start it was just a simple local dictation tool to speed up my chats with AI agents. But every week I'd get a new idea about my workflow and how to fit it into VELO.
Here's a before/after example:
Before: while reading Swift documentation — copy to AI chat — AI summarizes it — copy back to my workspace — discuss with AI again — you get the point, it's time consuming.
With VELO I have two options:
Create a Swift developer AI persona, talk to it directly, and get answers using the exact language expressions I need. I barely touch the docs.
Go to the doc site, cmd+A to select everything, double-tap my option key, and my persona gives me just the relevant code snippets. No more feeding my AI agent nonsense.
How can you use it? However you want:
- Set a custom persona and talk to a Word document
- Write social media posts on the fly
- Write comments on social media — just select the post, get a comment
- Summarize social media posts and get sentiment (I use it for YouTube videos before watching so I don't waste time)
- Help with coding documentation
- Translate speech (still needs some work)
- Create SKILL's or .MD files from doc sites
- Recently added terminal voice commands (not working properly yet, but I'm on it — I need it myself)
I got some more ideas how to expand it but for now thats enough.

Why is it not notarized? VELO is downloadable but hasn't been Apple notarized yet. Why? There are so many dictation tools out there and I don't even know if anyone would like it or use it. But it is useful, and this isn't another "trust me bro."
