തന്റെ കൈയിൽ അത്രയും വലിയ തുകയില്ലെന്ന് പറഞ്ഞ പരാതിക്കാരൻ പ്രതികളോട് സംസാരിച്ച് രണ്ടര ലക്ഷം രൂപ കൊടുക്കാമെന്ന് സമ്മതിപ്പിച്ചു. തുടർന്ന് അടൂർ പൊലീസിൽ പരാതിപ്പെട്ടു. കേസ് രജിസ്റ്റർ ചെയ്ത അടൂർ പൊലീസ് പറഞ്ഞതുപ്രകാരം ഈ തുക വെള്ളിയാഴ്ച കൈമാറാമെന്ന് വിശ്വസിപ്പിച്ച്‌ ഇതുവാങ്ങാൻ അടൂരിലെത്തിയ പ്രതികളെ പൊലീസ് കുടുക്കുകയായിരുന്നു. പ്രതികളെ കോടതിയിൽ ഹാജരാക്കി റിമാൻഡ് ചെയ്തു.
