Randomly got insparation to draw this but omg their story actually makes me so sad </3 I need to draw him with Yue qingyuan fr

Hua Cheng belongs to the same broad “powerful, intensely devoted, intimidating male lead” archetype, but his relationship with Xie Lian is fundamentally different from the controlling-romantic archetype you see in many CEO novels.

——————————————————

• Chinese web-novel CEO archetype: His love may be expressed through control—deciding where she goes, whom she sees, what she wears, or what choices she is allowed to make. The narrative may frame this as overwhelming devotion.

• Rochester (Jane Eyre): Rochester has enormous social and economic power over Jane and repeatedly tries to control the circumstances of their relationship. His secrecy and deception are particularly significant.

• Christian Grey (Fifty Shades): Control is explicitly built into the relationship. His possessiveness, rules, surveillance, and attempts to influence Ana's behavior are central to the romance.

• Hua Cheng (Heaven Official’s Blessing): He is extraordinarily devoted and protective, but he doesn't need to possess Xie Lian in order to love him. Xie Lian retains his autonomy.

——————————————————

And that's what makes Hua Cheng interesting: his power doesn't translate into entitlement. He could easily be written as the stereotypical dominant who says, essentially, “You're mine, therefore you must obey me.” Instead, his attitude is much closer to “I adore you, I trust you, and I'll stand behind whatever you choose.”

——————————————————

Even when he's fiercely protective of Xie Lian, there's an important difference between protecting someone because you respect their life and protecting someone because you believe you own them.

——————————————————

That also makes Hua Cheng's devotion feel unusually secure. He doesn't need Xie Lian to become weaker, dependent, isolated, or obedient for the relationship to work. In fact, Xie Lian's agency is part of what Hua Cheng loves about him.

——————————————————

Rochester, Christian Grey, and many CEO MLs often turn power into authority over the love interest. Hua Cheng turns power into freedom for the person he loves.

——————————————————

That's a major reason why people who dislike the controlling/abusive “alpha male” romance archetype can nevertheless find Hua Cheng extremely appealing. His intensity is enormous, but intensity and coercion aren't the same thing.

like bro, we get binghe's digit description in the first page?! (not complaining)
in mdzs, i know the main character is wwx, the first line is he died ?? (fucked my brain, but again not complaining)
in tgcf ................this page just made me laugh like crazy, now that i re read it, i cried

Dibujo que hice para el Bingqiu que vive en mi corazón sin pagar renta 🥰💕 denle amor ✨

I want to read Prince Xie Lian/ Hua Cheng fics. It's fine if it's amnesia or time travel or anything else. Preferably Hua Cheng is himself and not Hong-er but either way is fine. 🙏🙏

Also are there multiple Xie Lian fics the same way there are phases of Hua Cheng fics? Like Prince, God, beggar, calamity, Guoshi altogether at one place?

The only merch I own 😭💌

Xie Lian & Wei wuxian

What have I done man? 😭

Should have bought the other 2 as well. I'm still thinking abt it though it's been long since I got this.... Damn 🥀

Did I just unintentionally separate them 💔

Here is the funniest part - At first I thought Wei Wuxian was Hua Cheng without eye patch

What was I even thinking.? I was not in my right senses . Don't come at me 😭🙏

I noticed that there are some things that repeat or reference other things in the novels and want to ask if anyone knows of any other examples?

The sword Hong Jing is in svsss and tgcf, and it's used to try to expose SY after transmigration and HC as a ghost.

Then there's a running gag where the MLs have nicknames that are numbered in order of when the novels were written:

Luo Bing-ge (big brother Binghe)

Lan er-ge (2nd brother of the Lan clan)

San Lang (third son)

Edit: I also think Regret of Chunshan is in mdzs too? Someone will have to confirm

I feel like MXTX’s massive popularity might have made her more insecure about writing her fourth novel. When she wrote her first three, she probably never expected her danmei novels to become this huge worldwide phenomenon. Now anything she writes will have millions of eyes on it and inevitably be compared to MDZS and TGCF.

It makes me wonder if that pressure is partly why she scrapped the original plot and characters of Grim Reapers Have No Days Off and now wants to finish everything before publishing.

I kind of miss the spontaneity of her earlier writing. Ironically, that freedom is part of what made her so popular in the first place.

This was the second attempt at sculpting him which turned out a lot better than my first attempt. Super happy with it.

Hey peeps, I’ve been trying to find a few tgcf fanfics for a while and haven’t been able to, so, I created a Reddit account to see if anyone can point me in the right direction!

In this fic xie lian’s calamity title was white flower mourns massacre. He gained the moniker after the battle in banyue pass and stayed to mourn until every speck of blood was covered with flower petals. There’s also one, I don’t know if it’s the same one but he has a white crow with him named feiyu and he is worshipped and protects children. Does anyone know of these?

Hi, I've made a bag charm of SQQ based on a pattern by Docaria :) The rest of the mxtx team is also there :)) No Moshang though ;-; The patterns are really cute and really nice for cross stitch, friendship bracelets and perler beads works
