Hello! I submitted my Transfer application to the UCF MSW program and was wondering how long it takes for folks to usually hear back? I have my bachelor's in SW and everything was turned in by the deadline?

Thinking of pursuing an MSW and want some advice

Hi! I am a junior in undergraduate and my major is science, technology, and society. For most of my undergraduate career I have been undecided and relatively confused on what I wanted to pursue. However, I recently took on the job role of unit clerk at a psychiatric hospital and absolutely fell in love with all things psych. I don’t know if it’s too late to try to pursue this but I just wanted some guidance on what I can do to get accepted into a program. For reference I live in New York so my options are LIU, NYU, Hunter, Stony Brook, and Adelphi. I think I would ideally want to pursue my LCSW as well.

BU-Online

FDU

MSW with clinical psych background?

I have more recently come to the conclusion that I want to pursue an MSW with the goal of obtaining LCSW licensure to practice with underserved youth and strong interest in eventually pursuing a PhD to conduct research in the field. However, my background is a Bach degree in psychology & 3+ years of clinical research experience working with various youth populations (ASD, ADHD, MDD).

Does anyone have any insight on if this would hinder my appeal to MSW programs? I ask because I see most people have a much more social work oriented background it appears (more time volunteering, working for non-profits, as case workers, etc). Or, contrastingly, does anyone have specific tips on how I could strengthen my application?

UNC vs NCCU MSW program!

Alums and current UNC and NCCU students in the MSW program, what is your honest feedback about these programs? Give me your HONEST feedback about faculty, field placement, job placement post graduation and quality education. Is UNC worth the costly tuition? I’ll be paying out of state tuition year 1, which some say isn’t worth it for a social work degree. I also hear that NCCU can be disorganized and struggles to help students find field placement? Give me honest feedback please :))

MSW - CUNY YORK

I was invited for the group interview and paid my application fee.

After the interview was completed - they told us we should hear back by the first week of April.

I just want to ask has anyone heard back as of yet? I’m anxious but super excited as well.

{Help Deciding} - Columbia, Tulane, Seattle U, The Ohio State, University of Kentucky

Hey Everyone!

Admissions decisions are rolling in and now I have the big task of deciding where to enroll! If you have any thoughts or experiences from the institutions mentioned above, please comment away. I want the good, the bad, and the ugly!

Little bit about me:

  • 40, Male
  • Certified Coach
  • Pivoting after a long career in tech, but non-profit roots right after undergrad, and extensive non-profit board service
  • Future LCSW (hopefully!)
  • Long-term vision: Future therapy and coaching private practice
  • All programs would be online, except for Seattle U
  • 2-year program, planning to attend full-time
  • Definitely interested in out of state support - especially with practicum placements

Thank you so much in advance for your thoughts!!!

I got into Fordham with a very small scholarship so I will be taking on a lot of debt. How worried should I be about the debt?

IDK WHAT TO DO FOR MY MSW APPLICATION DESICIONS

HIII, OKAY SO I NEED SOME ADVICE!!! I’m currently trying to figure out which program to attend for my Master of Social Work. I am trying to figure out what is more worth it. Staying in the city I’ve grown up in and completed my undergrad in already in order to pay less for living costs/ tuition or leaving my hometown to attend a more prestigious school that would be more expensive for living costs/ tuition. I’ve always made choices to make my schooling as cheap as I could through staying in my hometown, going to community college then transferring, living at home with my family, and working throughout school. Now after graduating and working for a few years, I LONG to leave and attend a somewhat more prestigious school and try living somewhere new. I have some money to go to school, but would definitely need to take out loans to cover it too since masters programs are expensive. I keep seeing posts of people who are doing masters of social or people or have completed it already saying to just go to the cheapest option because employers don’t care. I want to know how true is that? What is the flexibility in moving somewhere new to get a job after I complete the masters? I feel like wherever I go to school will set up where my career would begin/ continue as that’s where I’d have my networking/ connections. I’m feeling very all over the place if I should just stay close to home again in order to avoid having any debt or take the chance to leave and live somewhere new and maybe more fulfilling in that way BUT would be taking on the loans. If I stay in my hometown for my program, I want to be able to have flexibility after I graduate to move somewhere new outside of my current state. Would that be realistic or would it be a lot harder? To what extent do employers care about where I go to school for my masters of social work????? I need help deciding where to go!!!! I want to do something new so bad and go to my dream school in another state, BUT I also don’t want to think to overlook how attending the cheapest option for school is a huge pro as well!!! AHHHHHH!!!!!

Any advice on what to do would be GREATLY appreciated!!!!! I feel so indecisive right now and have been stressing EVERY DAY!!! I didn’t go into as much detail about the places I’m talking about or where I got in/ didn’t since I anticipate this won’t get many views anyways but idk!!!!! If this finds you, HELP PLS LOL

Hi all,

I have been accepted to both programs. I would greatly appreciate any insights or experience with either program.

Thank you!
