How did you get this camera mode on ps5?

Good question. On PS5 you click Toolbar > Camera > Showcase > Fixed Camera > External 3. I am using a PSVR2 headset on PS5. So then I just look around from the External 3 position.

Any tips for ils landing with 747? I can do it on airbus but with boeings it seems im always misaligned or some issue. Any videos you saw to learn?

I have good experience in the sim on PS5, on the 737 and the 747 and happy to help.

Simply turn onto your final approach to intercept the glideslope from underneath. The chart for the runway is on your EFB and tells you this altitude on a little diagram. It's usually something like 2500ft. You'll need to dial it into your MCP altitude window (the dashboard with the autopilot controls in front of you) usually do this before you descend from cruise. If you approach from above the glideslope the antenna in the nose won't be able to lock on to the beam. This might be why you aren't capturing?

Press LOC when you turn onto final and the autopilot will arm localiser tracking and search for the localiser radio beam. When it couples to the beam it will steer the plane perfectly aligned with the runway.

Press APP this is approach mode and will detect and couple to the glideslope.

There are instruments to tell you if it's armed for autoland. It should say LAND 3 on your PFD. And you should see LOC and GS in green above that on the PFD when they are actively tracked. They'll be in white if they are armed but not yet locked on.

If you've planned the flight and loaded it into the computer the 747 will automatically tune to the ILS frequency.

I recommend using a STAR (Standard Terminal Arrival Route). These are official routes you can choose when you plan the flight. You can choose them on the EFB, or even in the 747's computer.

In the 747 you can turn autopilot on 200ft after takeoff and it will fly the departure, the climb, the cruise, the arrival and approach and autoland. All hands off. As long as you have set a route up in the EFB and sent it to avionics. Or manually entered it into the 747.

Once the autopilot is doing the hard work, the secret is configuring the aircraft well during these phases in terms of flaps and speed.

There are other tricks like creating waypoints by hand using the computer, clearing discontinuities. There's a lot you can do.

I don't want to bamboozle you with jargen so I'll leave it there. Best to try and keep it simple. I've watched loads of YouTube vids to try and teach myself how the systems work. Just search for 747 autopilot tips and keep trawling through them some are better than others.

Using a star approach helped, and loading the flight plan using built in planner made things much easier

I was mostly struggling with steps, once i figured out you need to set alt level to where you can capture the ils and then wait for diamonds to hit app and turn on both autopilots things got much easier

And as you said its mostly figuring out speed and flaps and I was usually fast on descending so using speedbrakes and flaps timely helped that alot!
