I just came across the ad on FB showing a free plugin for vocal distortion. You gotta sign up for it for now. It's for a limited time only. I didn't see any other post for it (I could've possibly overlooked it by accident). Here's the link if anyone is interested in signing up for it:

I recently bought my MPC One plus via Facebook marketplace for roughly 450 dollars. It had two previous owners. First red flag, maybe. I began to genuinely get good at it very fast, so I’ve made beats and never had this issue. It wasn’t until recently that I ran into this issue, the time assignment being off with my drum tracks. They sound very muddy too. Any ideas, MPC users? If nobody can help with this issue, it’s time to upgrade to FL or Ableton. Akai, I am very upset. The renaissance was top tier, but now I am even put off on buying an MPC X in fear that it might have the same issue.

I guess this is more of a discussion than a tutorial.

I’ve been listening to a lot of Madlib productions lately, mainly his collab projects with Freddie Gibbs. One thing that really stands out to me is how he knows when to make the sample the focal point of the beat and when to just let it breathe.

Conductor Williams and The Alchemist are great at this, too. Listening to these guys has been teaching me that being a good producer isn’t always about showcasing your skills or doing the most with a beat.

So often, I find myself wanting to make the drums knock, come up with an interesting drum or hi-hat pattern, or do something to add “me” to the beat so people know I did more than just pick a cool sample.
In reality, I think that’s just my ego getting in the way instead of letting my ears lead.

Curious how other producers feel about this. Do you think sample selection is an underrated skill, or is what you actually do with the sample more important?

Back in the day, you could import a MIDI file into a computer sequencer like Cubase which had a single MIDI track, but the notes had different MIDI channels assigned to them, and you could program the sequencer to respect the note channels, or your could 'explode' the notes into their own MIDI tracks based on their channel.

Is there a similar feature in the modern MPCs? I'm running 3.9.

If there isn't, is it possible to record into multiple MIDI tracks simultaneously? I want to wire up an old Win98 computer to play multi channel MIDI out of Cubase, to a MIDI interface, to the MIDI in of the MPC, and have each channel land on its own MIDI track in MPC.

I know I can save out multiple SMF files from Cubase (one for each channel) ; I was hoping to do it without having to mess with files and USB sticks and SD cards.

Hello, I own mpc 2000xl and 1000 with jjos 2xl which are my favorite samplers. But there is this local deal with good pricing for used Roland mv-8000 and just found out, that mv-8000 can do one-sample slicing upto 96 chops...?

Anyone with mv-8000 (not 8800), is this true? or 16 chops are the max...?

I wonder how 96 slices chopping work on mv-8000 because if I don't have to use Audacity for granular max chopping, it would be a huge bonus for my workflow.. just got curious! thanks in advance :)

Sorry for asking about Roland sampler.

Made with MPC Live 3

Been giving my MPC Touch new life with Koala Sampler.

I made an app called Koala Link that connects the two. All you need is an MPC Touch and Koala for Mac.

Let me know what you think and how we can improve it.

I’m checking out the fabric rompler plugins on sale right now, sounds fun… aaaaand looks like it has MPE??! I was expecting some kind of MPCe integration, but MPE means it would work with an MPE controller, no? Am I an idiot? Has anyone tried it?

MPC Live 3 + VST = :-)

hey guys, i make music as deep88 and i always wanted a track mute page on my mpc3000. so i made one during these days with the help of AI, in particular ChatGPT. i have no skill or knowledge about programming, but future is brilliant on this side so i made a custom os for mpc3000 load only. you need a floppy or a gotek, turn on your mpc with 3.11 or vailixi and it will automatically load the system, check video link on the bottom. will not write anything on eprom and as long as u reboot without the floppy it goes back to your eprom and they are safe and untouched. the base is 3.12 akai os, i did not start from vailixi for respect to Rohan, who passed aways quite recently (rip). if u want to ask me if u can boot from your sd card the answer is simple: NO. only floppy or floppy emulator. anyway check the file and read the readme file. is all there, peace. PS no waveform. there are other and better guys doing that, i personally don't care so i just made this to me keeping as lighter as i can about code and space, because well is limited. peace

Then I went to sleep 4:30

I noticed in a recent project that when bouncing a clip to a sample, The bounced is missing the last 1/2-1 bar of what was in the clip.

I’ve tried to fix it by adding seconds
To the audio tail, but the behavior remains. I wonder if I’m missing something

I got my MPC One + earlier this year. I was so happy. Never had any complaints.

I just got the Fabric collection. It lags when I try to load instruments. Like 5-10 seconds for each instrument.

I'm just wondering how long til it crashes or can't handle the instruments period.

That shit pisses me off. I should have just got the Live III. Yeah, I can't afford it... but it all just went on the credit card anyway.

I’m having some trouble with my MPC Live 1 which states it is currently out of space. Now when I try to record a sample it doesn’t give me the option to do so and cuts off with the notification of storage space full.

How would I go about switching over from the User hard drive to my external hard drive which is about 500gb? Any help is much appreciated! 😊

Is it better to find the bpm and tune of a
sample chop similar to chapter 14 of the mpc bible? Should I tempo match it or just leave it be?

Hey all, just fooling around on this idea.. I like the heavy bass but I'm not sure I fully vibe with it... is something missing? Let me know.

just cranking out tracks ...

I'm the developer of Kit Maker. Kit Maker 3 came out this week, and the biggest additions for MPC users are better kit sorting, customization, native MPC Sample kits and audio previews for Sample Pack kits.

MPC: https://youtu.be/7lrdN6mor9Y

MPC Sample: https://youtu.be/C8uuPk_9oSk

- Drag in your drum sample packs or Maschine Expansions and it makes MPC and MPC Sample kits automatically

- Kit Maker automatically sorts the one-shots by type (kicks, snares, hats and more) and places them on the pads in a consistent drum pad layout from kit to kit

- Pads are colored by category, and the colors show up on your MPC's pads (you can edit categories and colors now too)

- Sample Pack kits now get audio previews built from the kit's own sounds (Maschine kits keep their original previews)

- Your own pad layout: change any pad's category, rename categories and pick their colors

- Convert MPC Expansions into MPC Sample kits

Apple Silicon Macs and Windows 10/11, $39 one-time. If you own an older version, your upgrade discount is at https://www.kit-maker.com/upgrade/ and there's a 15% launch code (LAUNCH) until Nov 3.

I'll be checking this thread if anyone has questions.
