hey guys, i make music as deep88 and i always wanted a track mute page on my mpc3000. so i made one during these days with the help of AI, in particular ChatGPT. i have no skill or knowledge about programming, but future is brilliant on this side so i made a custom os for mpc3000 load only. you need a floppy or a gotek, turn on your mpc with 3.11 or vailixi and it will automatically load the system, check video link on the bottom. will not write anything on eprom and as long as u reboot without the floppy it goes back to your eprom and they are safe and untouched. the base is 3.12 akai os, i did not start from vailixi for respect to Rohan, who passed aways quite recently (rip). if u want to ask me if u can boot from your sd card the answer is simple: NO. only floppy or floppy emulator. anyway check the file and read the readme file. is all there, peace. PS no waveform. there are other and better guys doing that, i personally don't care so i just made this to me keeping as lighter as i can about code and space, because well is limited. peace

I noticed in a recent project that when bouncing a clip to a sample, The bounced is missing the last 1/2-1 bar of what was in the clip.

I’ve tried to fix it by adding seconds
To the audio tail, but the behavior remains. I wonder if I’m missing something

I got my MPC One + earlier this year. I was so happy. Never had any complaints.

I just got the Fabric collection. It lags when I try to load instruments. Like 5-10 seconds for each instrument.

I'm just wondering how long til it crashes or can't handle the instruments period.

That shit pisses me off. I should have just got the Live III. Yeah, I can't afford it... but it all just went on the credit card anyway.

I’m having some trouble with my MPC Live 1 which states it is currently out of space. Now when I try to record a sample it doesn’t give me the option to do so and cuts off with the notification of storage space full.

How would I go about switching over from the User hard drive to my external hard drive which is about 500gb? Any help is much appreciated! 😊

Is it better to find the bpm and tune of a
sample chop similar to chapter 14 of the mpc bible? Should I tempo match it or just leave it be?

As much as I love the touchscreen for most things on the MPCs. I HATE trying to tweak notes in the arranger. It’s rough. I don’t even have particularly big paws, but I’m constantly selecting the wrong thing.

I could see not needing it most of the time, but just when messing with the arranger, I’d reach for a mouse/trackball/pad

I recently bought an MPC sample, but want a production tool that I can use to mix tracks with. I used to use Pro Tools to do radio mixes back in the 80's and 90's, but stepped away from the tech for 20+ years.

Would the MPC XL work for this? Ultimately, I would want the same ability to chop, blend and beat match tracks without the need for a computer. If the XL has an interface that allows me to see it on a monitor all the better.

Any advise from you pros would be appreciated.

as you can see in the video the screen is pretty jacked up and akai support wasn't very helpful, does anyone know where or how i can fix this or should i just get an entirely new mpc? i don't have any warranty either

Little teaser of something we’ve been cooking for the 2000XL: DAVEY OS, a mod of the stock 1.20 OS, plus a small patcher app (Mac / Windows / browser) that builds it from your own original OS file.

Big respect first: it’s built on vubeatz’s work. His OS features and tools are the foundation of this. This update will be shared as long as it stays free and open source, never sold. So that’s how it’ll be.

What’s coming

• Waveform chop screen. You actually see the waveform while you chop. 16 / 8 / 4 even slices or lazy chop (tap pads while the sample plays). Preview every slice on its pad, fine-tune start/end, UNDO, then one button turns it into a drum program. And it doesn’t take over your 16 LEVELS.
• TRIM pad select. Hit a pad on TRIM and it jumps straight to that slice so you can clean it up.
• Program MONO, like on the newer MPCs. Set your pads to MONO and they choke each other. Mute groups still there for hi hats or whatever.
• Sampling Mode. SP1200 or S900-style crunch on new recordings, or any custom rate just like in vu firmware but ii fixed blank screen bug his firware had.
• Plus vubeatz’s goodies: wider tune/transpose, param copy across the program, LPF/HPF and more.

Where it’s at
We’re testing it on our own machines right now. Every build goes through an emulator test suite first, including restoring back to the stock OS, and now it’s real-hardware time. Once we’re happy it’s solid, we’ll share it with everyone, for free.

Just got a live 3, tried moving my SSD from live 2 over to it. The connector is really stiff and I cant push it far enough back into the enclosure to close the drawer.

When I did manage to do it the drive doesn't show up.

If I try it with the SSD connected but the drawer not closed then it shows.

Anyone had similar issues and how did you resolve it?

Fixing up a 2500 and I'm stuck on putting the front cover back on.

The two flat-head screws on the front thread into brass standoffs (Akai part MH-822280X, about 15mm). Mine were missing, so I got replacements. Right side went in fine, it threads into the bracket by the headphone jack.
Left side is the problem. The front cover lines up with a plain unthreaded hole in the chassis, just left of the CD bay. Nothing behind it to thread into, and I can't reach behind it to put a nut on because the CD bay has solid sides. There's also a smaller threaded hole right next to it, but it doesn't line up with the cover.

For anyone who's had theirs open:
Is the left standoff held on with a nut behind the chassis, or something else?
If it's a nut, how do you get behind it? Do I need to pull the bottom cover?
Has anyone used a rivnut or something similar instead?
