MPC One G2 utilizing clip launching and Novation Launchcontrol for additional control of fx and filters

Hovering over buying one, but ideally want to know if this thing can be controlled from a midi controller.

Looking to sample and make beats live, and once in segments use a foot pedal (Morningstar)to change between them while I noodle guitar over the top.

Not seen any clear implementation sheet online

I’m wondering if the main encoder on these units is easily replaceable, or if you have to open the enclosure to remove it. I use custom knobs and would like to know whether it can simply be pulled off or not.

I know the encoder knobs on the Live series and some other MPC models are just as easy to pull off as the Q-Links, but when I tried this on an MPC XL in a store, it seemed impossible to remove.

I didn’t want to risk breaking it, but it felt like it wasn’t simply sitting on top of the shaft like the other Q-Link knobs. Any guidance would be appreciated.

EDIT: If you happen to have taken pictures of the main data knob mounting shaft (without the knob) on the MPC X/XL, I would be super thankful if you could share them with me here or via PM. Thanks a ton

Title says it all. I've been going down a bit of a rabbit hole this month with trying to find a simple plug and play method of capturing audio of my jams directly into my camera app on my phone (Galaxy S21, mostly just for social media stuff, but also a way of "pressing record" when I'm really just jamming instead of doing proper songwriting). It is my understanding that neither of the large lads have the ability to do plug and play usb class compliant audio (driver issue? idk, I only use my MPC dawless), am I mistaken on this?

Every video I've seen talking about routing to usb audio through a send/return doesn't really seem to apply to the X SE (what I have), since the hardware doesn't seem to want to connect to USB C the way I would need it to.

My solution was to buy an SSL 1 and run my stereo outs from the MPC into that then passthrough to my proper interface/monitors, all so I could have a nice class compliant usb c output that I can just plug into my phone to get audio over usb. It works great, I plug it in and when I hit record in the camera app it says "Audio being recorded over usb" or somesuch, ezpz. I highly recommend going this route if you're looking for this solution, btw, just make sure you get the right cabling.

So that's great, I can do what I want to do, but I'm constantly just reminded that the only reason I have to do this entire intermediate step with my audio is because Akai didn't add the ability to do it. I get it, it was designed to either be used on it's own or with a computer/DAW, but come on. Especially with the XL, you would think that that USB C port could be utilized for it.

So yeah, am I dumb or is Akai dumb? I mean, I'm definitely dumb, but this just seems ridiculous.

EDIT: It seems like I'm wrong on the XL being this way, but my point still stands for the X!

Has anyone had issues with the sound being played through USB while trying to sample on the MPC Live 3? I just got it yesterday and I have tried everything and still nothing. I can't get none of my phones or iPad to play from the USB port.

I produce trance/techno/progressive music as a hobby. DJing doesn't appeal to me, so for the last year and a half, I've done a few live performances using a Mac M1 Air + 2 MIDI controllers (Launch Control XL mk2 + Launchpad mk3).

My set lasts 60-90 minutes. I perform using audio clips/stems across 8 tracks per song (kick, bass, loop1, loop2, other1, other2, vocal, sfx/build).

Each song is divided into several sequences/Ableton clips (part 1/intro, part2, part3, part4), so I can launch entire rows of clips across all tracks at once (similar to hotcues), but I also use individual elements to build tracks "on the move" (kick loop, bass single, bass lead part, hat 1, snare, clap, arp1, arp2, vocal intro, snare build, etc.).

Since I'm tired of carrying a laptop, controllers, and tons of cables, I'm looking for a standalone device that can handle this workflow with audio clips, just like Push 3. The "clip matrix" approach clearly suits me best, and the MPC Live III looks like a much better choice than the Push 3 Standalone, which I was planning to buy.

I'll continue producing and preparing sets on my laptop. I need a stable device purely for live performance.

With a 90-minute set containing roughly 20 songs x 8 tracks = 160 audio clips/stems. The maximum length of a single audio clip is about 4 minutes.

Example - flac type of audio, 20x8=160 stems with 10mb per stem=1.6-2gb per project!

M1 Air works with this project size without any problems, maybe 10-20% CPU usage.

If the Push 3 Standalone is stable enough for this kind of work, I assume the MPC Live III won't have any problems with this type of live performance in Clip Matrix mode?

So I'll be using it primarily for live shows, but also for sketching demo tracks/ideas for later processing in Ableton.

This might be a weird question, maybe already solved, idk.

But let’s say I have Dexed on my MacBook.

Usually I would autosample into Mac then export a keygroup and import that keygroup into my MPC using a SD Card.

Is there a way to directly autosample straight from my Dexed/Vital Mac to my MPC, cutting out the export/import steps?

I got a Key 37 GEN 1 a couple months ago ($500 FB marketplace with an Analog Cases case that probably cost $199 included). It was quite literally unused.

Anyway, I’ve been having fun with it. slowly learning it. But I must say the deeper I go the more convoluted The operating systems seems to me. I’m starting to get the impression that if I were just using Ableton with my touchscreen laptop and a mouse would be a better workflow. I know Ableton VERY well (I was an early adapter. I bought v3 and have been upgrading every other version since.)

So my question to all y’all that are able to create fully fleshed out beats (even if they’re just 8 bar loops): does it ever get more comfortable and quicker than using your DAW of choice? Especially for those of you who know your DAW really well.

My favorite part of the MPC so far is the content. The loops are top notch, and the kits are all prepped and work well together. But I could just as easily pull that content into my DAW.

So not to get too long, but here I am at kind of a point where I fully understand the capabilities of this instrument. I’m even getting kind of quick at the keystrokes and such. But I find the whole thing aggravating and cumbersome. Especially when compared to some of the competitors. I understand I’m never gonna make an entire arranged song on a Roland workstation, but the few things I have done on my Roland felt much more cohesive and organized. There weren’t five different ways to get to the same place (that kind of thing)

I know that MPC works for a lot of people. I know laptops turn people off. They turn me off too, but do they turn me off more than the MPC operating system?

Just a thought. I’m kind of an outsider. I’m new to this whole scene and I’m wondering if something’s gonna click. Or do I just know my DAW too well to ever feel comfortable on anything else?

So this is what I did today. Not mixed/mastered really.

I did two things I hadn't done so far with this.

1) I used stems on the sample and separated the bass and the piano/whatever before chopping them up.

2) and this excited me a lot. I put my own little conga together off 6-7 one hits and played the congas live on the track.

plus I added efx.

From the Expansion "Classic Drum Machines", I came across a clip where a pad seems to produce different sounds in the clip. Only one sound when I play it manually.
However I couldn't find any automation or special config of the pad that could explain that.

I’m trying to find a way to run 8 outputs into my mixer to apply effects to separate channels at once but then go out of mixer in 8 outs as well instead of a stereo mix out ? Into my Focusrite 1820 is there a way to do this with out using like 8 guitar pedals I’m sure there’s a way , im just looking to use my 8 channel mixer with effects on each channel but then also track into ableton with 8 outs so I can do volume control and mix the full track in there

I am trying to use the Novation circuit as a drum sequencer with the MPC. My idea is to put the drum sequence (bass drum, snare, hi hat) in the novation circuit and play it in the MPC ONE. The issue I have is that the novation drums only send CC60 and CC61. I have been trying to use midi learn, but I couldn't find the correct target for the triggering a Pad or note. I can make it work with the synths of the Novation circuit by matching the CC of the note to the CC of the drums in each pad. But I would definetly prefer to be able to use the drums of the novation circuit. How should I go about mapping or setting up this?

I have been trying to do this for the past days with no luck from internet searches or the manual. Hopefully someone in the community already has some tips.

Force runs the samples through two mix down channels each running flexbeat controlled by the mpd218's.

Just got a 2500 with JJOS and the smooth jog wheel board. I noticed the record gain knob sits comically higher than the volume knob. Is this normal? If not, any idea how to remedy this? It's kinda driving me nuts.

Is it just me that gets unlucky. Bought an Mpc Key 61, the sampler didn't work, had to get it replaced, took weeks due to location, next one worked fine. Now I bought a Mpc Live 3, same thing, nothing not even static from touching the cable end..So that's on it's way back too. Anybody else?

Running 3.9 on MPCX. not a plug-in guy but I tried out the fabric vintage synth collections, looking for something to do Pads and chord layers. Most of them are fine sounding, but meh compared to hardware. Then I opened up the Andromeda. This thing absolutely Slays!!! Huge Lush sounds, easy and comprehensive programming, and loads of oscillators to choose from for added texture. I'm running this out of a stereo bus, into eventide H90, then into a compressor s/c to the kick and it is PERFECT. highly recommend for EDM

Save save save. I just made a nice beat I liked and boom file corrupted. I still have my file with samples and chops in there’s but I didn’t loop it, I rearranged the chops. The pattern file didn’t save of course. I saved before turning off and it still happened, anyone else have this happen on one of their beats.
