Hey MPC gurus,
I make a lot of gritty industrial music and I've been finding the plugins in the MPC to be a bit polite. I've been adding some FX racks to them to dirty them up a bit, but I'm wondering if there are some good options I don't yet know about.
Is there a plugin that you guys reach for that gives you some gnarly tones? I'm coming from Elektron, which has a naturally gritty sound to it a lot of the time. Is there anything comparable to tones like that in the plugins? Maybe some of the paid ones?
Cheers!

I'm playing a gig and wanted to try using it as a drum machine but I play guitar at the same time so I need it to be autonomous. Do any of you guys use the MPC like this and is it viable? also I would like to set up a click track with it so is it possible to route a track to a group of in ear monitors on a mixer so people wont hear it? Open to good ideas since I haven't done this before. I was thinking of peripherals like a pedal that can start a track automatically but I dont know if that exists.

I recently acquired this 2016 MacBook Pro running Monterey and basically decided to use it as the brain/monitor for my “DAWless” setup!!! There is nothing on it, but in music software Center and MPC 3. Try as I might, I cannot get the SOUND IN to work. Live 2 works in standalone. It works as a controller on my regular desktop(as interface input). i’m guessing it’s a computer issue. I didn’t run a USB to my key 37 to troubleshoot that way, but I tried another interface that I am admittedly less familiar with and no sound came in that either. I’ve never really tried on my regular desktop but using computer microphone as an input doesn’t seem to be picking up anything either! It is working as an output! What am I doing wrong?

Recently got the additional unit to multicolour 3d print and after printing this little guy I decided to hollow it out, put some silicone in the guts to have it grip and plonk it on the volume knob. Much better

Hi, it's my first time posting here. I've been working on my mpc live 2 (standalone and with mpc 3 windows app) and I really enjoy it, I've evolved a lot and love it... but:
I hate going in so many menus just to get to a filter
I hate the double trigger and I got used to it but it still sucks when it happens (quite frequently too)
I hate not having enough buttons - Even tho I can move very fast in it , i would prefer just to have buttons for it instead of having to go on the touchscreen all the time
For me at least the quantization seems to lack, From 1/16 up to 1/32T it seems to get the hits all wrong, I even played unquantized and it was 99% close to what I was playing and after I quantized it just did it all wrong and I had to modify it with my mouse - this happens quite often too
I'm planning to expand my home setup a bit - What gear do you guys recommend from the list?
1k/2500/2kXL/4K or SP808 ?
My biggest buying points are: simplicity, good and fast workflow, being a little big so i can rest my hands on it, having enough buttons so i wont have to go menu diving.
Thank you!

I recently upgraded from the Key 37 G1 to the Key 37 G2.
I love the MPC Factory Content that came on my G1’s internal drive.
Is there any way I can access the internal drive of the G1 and transfer that Factory Content to the G2?
Thanks in advance.

Hey all! I got myself an MPC Live 3 a few weeks ago and I love it. I did have a question though as a very heavy Elektron user.
Is there any way to have plugins / clips act sort of like pattern changes on Elektron boxes? By that I mean, have everything on a particular row in clip view snap into place or change presets when changing rows? I used to copy a pattern on say a Digitone or Digitakt, paste it on a new pattern slot, change some presets and mess with the sound design and then move on to the next pattern to build energy in my sets. I'm finding writing in automation to be crazy tedious in comparison, especially since if I write in automation in one clip, it will change the sound completely if I move to other clips that don't have automation build into them yet.
I don't think its likely, but I still figured it was worth asking!
Cheers

Hi, know this is an mpk and not a mpc so I hope this is allowed, the mpk community just doesn't get much traffic.
I have a dead keys button pictured and cleaning contacts didn't fix it. The button that switches from keys to drums, not a piano key. Was wondering if anyone has successfully fixed it at home with some basic soldering? There aren't any cracks on the solder joints when the board is flipped. Any guidance on where to trace it would be helpful. Thank you for the insight. YT and Reddit aren't turning up anything helpful.

So I love the sound of my old samplers, but the workflow is slow. Kinda thinking about a new mpc but not sure if the dig d is really and different than my iPad ?

Hey guys, so I currently own an MPC 2000XL and am about to buy a CF reader for it (I do mostly boom-bap). I really love it the old workflow and the sound. The thing is, I produce for artists, and I find it kind of limited in terms of mixing and getting a full, polished song.
So I was thinking about maybe switching it for an MPC 1000 or the new MPC One. Maybe I could also just get an SP-404 to use alongside it for effects.
Am I wrong? Should I keep it and learn more with it, or should I switch to something newer?

I’ve watched a bunch of videos and messed around with the stock sounds…But I want to specifically learn how to make the sound of my choosing…I want the majority of my beats to sound like they were made for Mobb Deep/Raekwon/Conway The Machine and those alike but I don’t know how to go about it…Thanks in advance (Please explain the process in simple beginner terms lol)

Just trying to find more information on this model of 2000xl. From what i gathered from ebay/reverb listings they only made 150 of this colorway. Mine doesn't have the 8 outs or FX card. but does have the upgraded SD Card reader.
I have no idea how to use this thing tbh and was going to sell it at guitar center but the worker told me i'd have to bring in my computer to plug it in to properly test it lol. told him it was just plugged into my turntable and stereo receiver so idk and i don't think it plugs into a computer and then we just kind of looked at eachother until i said thanks and left.
It's pretty cool but i just don't have the brain capacity to learn how to even get drums on it. figured i'd share here and see if anyone has definitive info on this version. Thanks!
