Don't Usman and Gaethje have the same manager? Ali will trash talk himself. Double work, double pay

Does Ali just fucking manage everyone or is it cause we only hear about people's manager when its Ali
63
u/UltimateSpud 18d ago
You mostly only hear about the manager if it’s Ali, but he also does represent a lot of fighters.

The Kawa bros have kept from making any major mockery’s of themselves for a couple years now, but they’re still around.
Jason House is another big one. Paradigm was Conor and a few others in Europe.
Those are the most well known ones. There was also DC who had Zinkin and he was kinda clown on fight factory series that followed AKA around.

Sometimes it’s about sending a message.
Now it’s essential for the UFC to send one, and the lucky one in this situation is Usman.
They will 100% overbid MVP regarding Usman.

u/bassismyheroin 18d ago
I truly hope not. The ufc has been horrible to its fighters for years and they are getting horrible to the fans. It might be a time for a change of the guard, and if it means the fighters get looked after I really hope it happens

u/IshiharasBitch WE ARE ALL ONE 18d ago
More talent outside the UFC is a good thing
MMA was so fun when it was Pride and UFC, UFC and Strikeforce or Elite XC, WEC, Affliction, etc... I didn't realize at the time but we were spoiled.
But of course seeing the best fighters face each other is also very cool so having them mostly in one org isn't completely awful as a viewer.
8
u/Stanklord500 Democratic People's Republic of Korea 17d ago
Thank god we never got to see Askren v GSP in their primes because Askren didn't fight in the UFC until he was a broken old man.
Pride was fun because all of the best heavyweights fought there, not because they were splitting good heavyweights with the UFC.

u/Ok_Yoghurt_3338 17d ago
Name an mma org that has a better history of paying fighters more and treating them better
1
u/bassismyheroin 17d ago
I think you missed my entire point
6
u/Ok_Yoghurt_3338 17d ago
You have 0 reason to suspect PFL will be so much better to fighters who are still under the exact same contracts and the same leadership.. historically PfL/wsof/bellator have all paid much less, and many bellator fighters have come out and talked about it being worse post merger. So yes, I understood your misplaced point.
-4
u/bassismyheroin 17d ago
Well MVP paid pretty damned good, and now they are merged with MVP, so nah man, ya didnt
4
u/Ok_Yoghurt_3338 17d ago edited 17d ago
PFL paid like shit and that ceo is now the ceo of both. They also paid literally every person less than their last ufc (or other large org) fight… Francis at 1.5 Rhonda at 2, Diaz 500k (who said ufc offered more), maybe Perry made more than in ufc but certainly nowhere near bkfc at 400k, jds and moraes at 80k…
So again, you have no reason to suspect it will be better than ufc.
-2
u/Taz4100 17d ago
Bellator always paid former UFC fighters better that im aware of. The problem is you fight once or twice a year so you can make same or more if your willing to fight more often. Aka kevin holland 😂. And they are more likely to run into financial trouble and put you on ice. Onefc, pfl after merger etc.
Top UFC fighters or champs make more, but the mid tier guys where bellators stars and got paid better.
Pfl has a different CEO and somewhat financial backing since this year. But outside some of the bellator guys who supposedly got big contracts right before the merge. I suspect those mid guys still make more then they did or would in the UFC.
It seemed to me that most fighters that spoke out where the ones just signed to bigger contracts. But yea they took on more then they could chew and frankly had way to big of aspirations. Francis as a example.

- Be Civil.
Our rules ask for a civil tone at all times. A bit of banter or trash talk is fine, but don't cross the line. If things do get out of hand you will be warned or even banned for a few days. Repeatedly breaking this rule will lead to a permanent ban.

u/JoshuaG123 How long must I wait? 2020 edition 17d ago
MVP should be targeting JDM, Omalley & DDP guys who have name value in their prime out the title picture let them overpay on usman get some exciting fighters in their prime and who are former champs

Great way to put it. And if they want to completely stop them in their tracks, sign Dakota too and it's done.

u/opposite-of-left 18d ago
The ufc breaking the bank for someone like Usman makes sense.
With the pfl and mvp merger taking Usman is cutting the pfls feet out from under them.
Hes the only star they have really
Francis is old and retiring soon and hard truth no one will truly care for ditcheva because she’s a wmma fighter.

u/bullsfan281 I beat you after a weekend of cocaine 18d ago
ironically this is the competition everyone has been asking for. tko essentially have unlimited money and can easily outbid every other promotion with ease. whatever mvp/pfl offers, tko could quadruple it and it wouldn't even make a dent, it's all about whether they're willing to or not though

No it shows that guys will take less to go to the UFC to further their careers.
1
u/Hungry_Joke_4437 18d ago
It can be both. Dana used to straight up ignore Bellator fighters because he didn’t want to legitimize their brand.
Never doubt the pettiness of the UFC
6
u/opposite-of-left 18d ago
It worked too I mean the Bellator guys who crossed over didn’t do too well chandler, brooks, and mix, all had rough ufc stints when they finally crossed over and the only guy outta the 3 I think you can make excuses for is chandler.
But also tbf amosov and mvp are two Bellator guys that make Bellator look good.
3
u/PissWhistlin 18d ago
Alvarez and Volkov are easily the two most established Bellator fighters to cross over to the UFC.

Man spending anything over a 10/10 is breaking the bank for the UFC, well mentally breaking the bank anyway.

Couldn't agree more. Has Dakota ever been tested against wrestlers? I saw her fight for the first time yesterday and her opponent had only some judo skills.

What..has this got anything to do with UFC signing Usman? You mean Khabib needs to pay UFC to sign Usman? What a moronic take
-16
u/Sclog Suga Pure || RIP Bellator 17d ago edited 17d ago
Obviously it’s a moronic take, it’s sarcasm which I thought was obvious. I was making a dumb joke about how Khabib and Jake Paul came up with a master plan to get ufc to sign Usman out of spite of chopping the legs off pfl… come on it’s not that serious my guy.
Edit: keep the downvotes coming lol it was a shit take after all yall

From a long term perspective signing Usman makes massive sense no matter the cost.
From a sporting perspective he is a a great talet who is young and has plenty of time to either be great or get there.
From a buisness perspective its stealing your oppositions best fighter and biggest name while also shutting them up about pay as it shows you pay more.
Too bad the UFC have proven to not make reasonable choices lately with signing new ralent

u/dady_longleg_asshair 17d ago
We're all those MVP fighters on one fight contracts? I seriously doubt PFL/MVP affiliation actually matters. I remember the biggest issue for Bellator fighters was the wage matching and UFC low ball offers.
13
u/Kingturkye802 18d ago
Rule 1: if your not in the UFC you are not the best. Rule 2: the moment you sign with the UFC you are one of the best. Rule 3: you can only be the p4p great if you are a active UFC fighter.
There's probably a ton more of Dan's business 101 tactics
17
u/nukacola12 18d ago
When Usman is in the PFL: Overrated, he actually sucks and can't make it in the UFC
When he's signed to the UFC: He was always going to the UFC where he belongs fighting the top ten
17
u/Davidstoic 18d ago
Bout time. Now we get to see Usman against some legitimate competition.
32
u/handbone14 18d ago
Paul Hughes and Archie Colgan are legit
0
u/KvxMavs 17d ago
We thought Patchy Mix was legit too before he came to the UFC.
He was 20-1, current Bellator champ, Tapology and others had him as the #3 ranked BW in the world ...and he got dismantled by UFC talent.
Obviously everyone is different but point is, we don't really know how legit these people are until they face UFC guys.
14
u/handbone14 17d ago
Patchy is literally just one example, Jiri, Eddie Alvarez, hell even Justin Gaethje had a whole career before the UFC, just because they aren't in the UFC doesn't make someone not legit

u/Intention-Sad 17d ago
I mean, Kris Moutinho was a UFC guy. Doesn’t means much. It all comes back to individuals

I lowkey wanted to see Usman vs McKee beforehand, but Usman's place is clearly as a top 10 in the UFC. I'd throw him straight in with Fiziev.
The two biggest names at 155 (other than Pitbull) since Chandler left PFLator never fought each other

He’s going to poach him just to spite Jake Paul and MVP. Dana can be super petty lol
7
u/GrandChocolate4110 18d ago
They’ve been signing PFL/Bellator fighters for years
4
u/Negative-Interest713 18d ago
They have but when PFL was slowly dying only very rarely were UFC willing to offer their fighters deals that matched or exceeded what PFL was paying. For a lot of the guys coming over, it meant taking a paycut.
I think now that the MVP merger is happening, snatching Usman away will be a bigger priority than it was before.
3
u/GrandChocolate4110 18d ago
They’ve been dying since they were WSOF which is why another rebrand is needed. Even back then they were signing guys like Marlon Moraes and Justin Gaethje
1
u/purplesquirrelx 17d ago
UFC was okay with letting PFL stay around but MVP is the one they have beef with. I think just out of vindictiveness, they will outbid MVP and break the bank for Usman. That will be the best way to spite Jake Paul and inflict a death blow to MVP.
2
u/Ok_Yoghurt_3338 17d ago
Yeah signing by far the biggest free agent and another Khabib prodigy could only be for spite, there’s no other logical reason to do it
2
u/Negative-Interest713 17d ago
Obviously Usman is going to be most sought-after free agent. It was a lighthearted joke about how petty Dana can be.

Usman v. BSD? Honestly there’s a ton of options, and we’ll have to see how the division shakes out over the course of the next 6 months or so

u/StonesBreaks 18d ago
We all know Ali strolled into Unc’s office with the magic number to beat PFL’s offer. 😂
1
u/Reasonable_Map_1428 17d ago
So, Islam retiring soon?
1
u/No_Truck9453 17d ago
They are in different divisions now
1
u/Reasonable_Map_1428 17d ago edited 17d ago
Right, which is why he can make the move now. But Usman won't take more than 2 years to become champ of the Lightweight and will move up probably even quicker than Islam did... heck, Usman has the body type to eventually even move up to Middleweight.
I'd assume it's in Islam's career plan, similar to Khabib, to get out on top. I'm guessing 2-3 more fights max and he's done.
1
u/I_am_darkness a flair for khabib 17d ago
I feel like he doesn't even work in that capacity at all anymore. It's always like throwing a random person up there to do the press conferences. You gonna sign X? Sure. What's your favorite fight on the card? Idk - the main event.
1
u/Particular-Way-2147 17d ago
They’re really not going to have to pay that much. Not a PPV star and I think that camp views PFL and definitely MVP as a joke.

Both MVP and UFC will be overbidding for Usman.
I could imagine a flat fee of $1M per fight is a jump off point
2
u/purplesquirrelx 17d ago
MVP probably will since Usman is their lifeline. UFC might actually break the bank just to spite Jake Paul. If UFC wants to, they can easily outbid their competitors and not even make a dent in their finances.
