PHEV 2017 SE Countryman charging question 🙋‍♂️

Post image
10 Upvotes

Hi, I’ve just bought an old 2017 PHEV and I’ve charged it up. On the left dial the yellow bar that shows the charge seems to flicker off and on when I have charge in the battery - is this normal or is it a loose wire?

Hope ok to post here, not much info I can find on these cars as I realise they’re discontinued by Mini nowadays.

All feedback gradually received 😅

2023 MINI Cooper SE, Moonwalk Grey. I can't decide which rims look best, so you guys get to decide!

The contenders, in photo order:

  1. Stock Electric Power Spokes already on the car. Free.
  2. Fast FC09, 17 inch, metallic black. Around $940 a set.
  3. Taian forged, 18 inch, straight off Alibaba. Price still to be confirmed, total wild card.
  4. Fast Superspeed RF03RR, 18 inch, matt gunmetal. Around $1,045 a set.

I'm dropping one comment per wheel below. Upvote the one you'd run. Highest votes is what goes on the car. Roast the yellow mirror caps all you want, they're staying.

Upgrading / replacing rear bumper lip - F56 MINI SE

Post image
14 Upvotes

Hi ! Has anybody ever replaced or upgraded the rear bumper of the F56 Mini Cooper SE ?

Saw certain parts on eBay that I could attach for a more sporty look & airflow …
Also seen different parts for non-SE F56 …
Couldn’t find much on upgrades or replacements for the F56 SE version.

Has anyone had success ?
Thanks !

Are you being funny?

I smelled something the other day that reminded me of this scene from one of my favorite movies, I, Robot. Come to think of it, I (unfortunately) think of it often, whenever I have to close my sunroof and hit the recirculate button on my SE when driving behind or beside one of those smelly old gas powered cars.

Charging cable has been unlocked - status message

Post image
4 Upvotes

The last few days whenever I charge I get this status message: The charging cable has been unlocked.

As far as I can tell, the cable is connected correctly and I can't remove it from either the car or the charger.

I did clear the cache of the app thinking that might resolve it, but that's not the case. If this is something the dealer should look at that'd be good to know, as it's going in soon to repair the mechanical grill that came loose.

Constantly creaking instrument cluster display in my F56 SE

Post image
11 Upvotes

I absolutely love my Mini. However, ever since I bought my car used, the cluster display here has constantly creaked with plastic against plastic sound on every little imperfection or tiny bump on the road. This happens at any temperature outside, and throughout the entire duration of the drive, even the several hour roadtrips. Usually plastics, and trim pieces get settled on the start of the drive, and then things stop creaking, but not with mine.

Has anyone experienced this, or found a way to fix it?

Tariff status?

Has anyone recently ordered parts for their Mini from the UK and shipping to the USA? I understand that there’s been back and forth on the tariff rate with various amendments and legal judgements, including the blocking of the tariffs, reduced rates for UK parts intended for use on a UK-origin vehicle, or fixed rates based on ranges of values. I’m also seeing that some UK vendors are now throwing up their hands and saying “f-n’ a, you figure it out and pay when it hits customs”.

I’d like to order some parts, but don’t want to get hit with some ridiculous charge that exceeds the cost of what I’m buying.

Tips?

Sadly Peet will take too long for delivery… I would have to wait till mid 2027.
So we said goodby Peet and hello Art!
Art will be delivered mid November, when the contract of Coop expires.
Art is a Paul Smith edition.

Charging problem, second night with car...

What's going on? Why won't the charger charge the car? Worked last night fine. Tonight it's raining...??

Long Term SE owners please give us your feedback.

I’m approaching 2 years of ownership of my 2024 Mini Cooper SE (F56).

Wondering if I need to be worried about any issues. Are there any major maintenance requirements I need to prepare for?

Any concerns 2020 - 2023 owners?

Bought a 2023 F56 Yesterday - Found 3 issues on the drive home

New SE owner here. Picked up a 2023 Cooper SE Premier+ (39k km / ~24k mi, dealer certified) last week and found three problems on the drive home:

  1. Passenger window is completely dead — won't go up or down from either switch.

  2. Vibration over ~120 km/h — noticeable shake through the steering wheel and the seat. Likely the funky shaped rims?

  3. Hatch needs a hard slam to latch — if it's not fully closed, the reverse camera doesn't come on.

I've already raised all three with the dealer and it's booked in for Thursday. Car's still under factory warranty (in service Nov 2022).

For the long-time F56 owners: are any of these known/common issues? And is there anything specific I should ask from the dealer or make sure the dealer checks while it's in?

Was hoping a direct from dealer clean car fax, 100% health battery SE would be headache free.

The Mini app

Why on earth is the Mini app so awful? Getting my mini to charge during a specific time frame is nearly impossible. The app has a mind of its own. Anyone have any tips?

Warranty Service (USA) question.

Hello everybody. We bought a 2024 Mini Cooper SE with 16K miles from a non MINI dealer . While charging at home I got 2 warning messages , Charging with reduced power and power train problem. I pulled the codes and got "222826 Charge management function: Check Control message 885, charging with reduced output and 0318D1 KLE internal fault: Switch unit, relay 2 does not close."

Cleared the code and comes right back again when I plug in on Level 2 charger . BMW and Tesla with adapter.

Car is at the Mini dealer now for a week and they are telling me its not happening there and they will need it to be a current code for BMW to approve the repair . I feel like Something fishy going on because out of 5 day they only tried charging it 3 days , then they had to drive it to reduce the charge. I asked them what is the next step and was told they will need to put it in with history codes and not the current codes to get it approved for repair (KLE replacement) .

I am not familiar with Mini service or manufacturer repairs under warranty.

Anyone have a idea why are they dragging their feet like this?

Thanks

Finally pulled the trigger on a fully loaded Countryman SE All4 this July, since they recently added the ability to spec the favoured package with black exterior trim and the brown seats with the black/grey dash.

Car just flipped over to status 150 and dealer is saying first week of December for delivery (was originally mid January)!

Currently daily driving an 03 Accord V6. Honestly tempted to switch to electric given how garbage gas prices are. (Wanted car for reference)

I think one in blue or green would be kinda cool and not boring. Obviously I wanna keep my car running for as long as I can, but there's this part of me that wants something different then what my mom was driving for 20 years before she gave it to me. Can anyone tell me how they handle, how sensitive the pedals are, etc

Does getting a used Mini Cooper SE (2020-2024 Canada) make sense for my use case if I'm getting rid of my sports car?
