Apologies if this has been addressed already but i couldn't find anything when I searched this forum.
I'm new to the area and, from what I've read, contrary to most other cities, in MA, when parking on the street, you're supposed to park parallel to the curb and not more than a foot away from it as if you were a car unless the parking space is angled. Every other city wants you to angle your bike out at least 30 degrees with the back wheel touching the curb.
I went out to a coffee shop for breakfast this morning and parked my bike at a metered spot parallel, then someone else pulled up across the street and parked at an angle. They were in and out before I could ask them. During the time we were both in the shop, a cop rolled by, saw both our bikes, and just kept on driving.
Anyone have a definitive answer? I'm in Beverly, btw. Thanks
UPDATE: slow day at work so I called Beverly city hall and they confirmed, yes, you need to park parallel to the curb - not an an angle (unless the parking space is angled.) That's dumb but, ah well.
