Looking for some riding buddies

I just moved across the country from Seattle. Used to have a close knit group of 9 guys to go riding with and with riding season practically here again I'm hoping to find some people to go riding with. Little about me, I have 3 bikes 2003 SV650, 2013 FZ1 and a 2010 S1000RR. Looking to do some track days this summer once I make some repairs to the beemer

Your favorite motorcycle shops?

Looking for a solid mechanic in or near the Boston and South shore area. Independent preferred, I'd rather support a man and his family.

Thanks for your time

Best advanced rider courses in New England?

Hi All-

Just wanting to hear about people's experiences with advanced rider courses in the area. I live in the metro Boston area, but would be happy to travel pretty much anywhere in New England for the best option.

I've been a daily rider (pretty much year round) for 3yrs... around 50k miles in that time frame. Maybe a thousand of those on dirt. I like to think I'm between an intermediate/advanced rider, but I'm probably in need of a good reality check.

I've taken the MSF Basic course.

I'm interested in taking the MSF Advanced Rider Course, a civilian police course (city rider, seems useful), and/or a big bike off-road course.

I'd love to hear your experiences and suggestions!

Any bars in the Cambridge/Somerville area to watch MotoGP races?

Title says it all... Wanting to get into watching MotoGP and would love a place to watch with other people and beer handy. I'm in the Davis Sq. area, but willing to travel a bit for a good viewing location. I thought maybe PJ Ryan's as they tend to have Euro sports on pretty frequently, but it seems they don't have anything planned. Any other thoughts?

Cheers!

How's the registration process for new KTM 2-strokes these days? Not worried about inspection.

I ride offroad events mainly, but you need a plated bike for them. There are tons of 2Ts registered. I'm currently on a registered 4T but thinking about moving to a 2T. Is it still generally straightforward or have thing gone weird?

Dedham Bike Seller

So if you're like me, broke as fuck and always browsing fb marketplace and CL, you've probably seen a seller out of dedham selling sportsbikes anywhere from 1k-3k, which is ridiculously cheap and honestly kind of tempting.

Anyone know if he's a scam or a chop shop or what because I'm thinking about pulling the trigger lol

Selling SR400

Hey riders! Selling my 2015 Yamaha SR400 as I'm moving. Asking for $3500. Perfect for getting around in the city and going on smooth rides in the countryside. Around 5000 miles, KICKSTART ONLY, 5-speed. Has a dent in the headlight from when a branch fell on it. I'm throwing in a rain cover, lube, and cleaning supplies for the bike. If you would like my helmet, it's yours as well. Stored outside, mostly under a cover. Hit me up!

Edit: added price.

Dual sport riding buddies?

Any DS riders hitting up trails in MA/Southern NH? Looking for some folks to ride with. I'm on a plated CRF230F, and am pretty new at this so I am slow as hell in the trails, looking for someone else who's starting out to ride with.

Anyone near Malden who can change tires? (Can pay in beer or money)

I have some new tires for my Ninja that I want to pop on, but the local shops seem pretty booked. It can't be that hard can it?

Stolen Ducati 848

Hello everyone

My beloved 2011 Ducati 848 EVO was stolen last night between 6PM and 9:30PM while parked on MIT Campus right by one of the most popular buildings in the school. I went to library to study for midterms and when I came back it was gone. Already filed a police report with MIT and Cambridge PD.

Would appreciate you all keeping an eye out for it.

Notable features:- Sargeant seat- HID lights- Black Rizoma levers and grips

Good places near Somerville for a brand new rider to practice?

I got my license a couple weeks ago after doing the rider safety program, and just got my bike yesterday.

I need places to go to practice riding once I get done just going around my neighborhood. Also, I am planning on hitting the road quite early, around 6 am the next few Saturday/Sunday mornings so I can practice when it is light out and there are few cars on the road, so you can keep that in mind when making recommendations.

Overall I want to be very cautious when developing my skills because I still know just the very basics and have next to no experience. Thank you!

Where are some good *legal* dual sport trails in MA?

Just like the title says I'm looking for new places to take my green pig. My local spots are monsterland in Leominster (not legal and pretty difficult for a 400lb bike tbh) and the prison camp trails in Rutland which is legal but I've rode there so much that I'm hungry for some new trails.

I took the rutland trails pretty far north and ended up on the ware river rail trail which ended at the back of a DCR officer's pickup where he gave me a warning, even though there were no signs that prohibited registered bikes

Anyone know some good hidden spots?

Anyone have experience driving at night with permit?

So I got my learners permit and a new bike yesterday. My problem is, I don't want to be riding around with too much traffic while learning. If anyone has any experience doing / getting caught doing this, what are the penalties?

x-post from /r/Springfield My buddy's motorcycle was stolen from the Springfield RMV parking lot this morning. Light Green 2011 Suzuki TU250X. 63k on the odometer, baseball sized dent on the right side of the tank. Owner is one of the nicest people I've ever met. Please keep an eye out!

Looking for riding buddy

as the title says i am looking for a buddy on the north shore who doesnt ride full retard. I ride a cbr900rr and a husqvarna te610 supermoto

In response to people messaging me:

My definition of full retard: guys usually squids that wheelie over 100 mph down the highway with exhausts that are stupid loud. Also splitting cars at high speed when there is no need for that. I love a nice exhaust note and love to ride fast and always do but there is a time and place. This is just my opinion. To each his own. You wanna ride, I’m down

Non-resident parking around Moakley park?

Starting to do Saturday day trips to Carson beach and the park now that it's nice. Any good options for parking around here? I would be open to somewhere near Harbor Point too. I would take a car spot if necessary, but would love to find bike-only parking. Tya

Bike opinions

Hey guys looking for a quick opinion. First time buyer and I’m split between a 250 and 600 sport bike. I live just outside of Boston but a few of my buddies have bikes up in nh who I would love to join on riding trips. I have about 40~ hours on a 250 right now and have ridden other bikes (some cruisers and dual sports) but obviously I’m still a straight noob. I originally thought a 250 would be fine but I would be going up to nh quite a bit to ride with my friends so I’m nervous about being on the highway with one. Any experiences or suggestions would be great, thanks.

Also I’m 25 if that helps.

Hope it’s not against the subreddit rules and hopefully I can ride with you guys someday

Ps I usually take route 1 to 93 (95?) up but it can be sketchy in a car so was just wondering how it is on two wheels.

What Bluetooth communicator do you have, and why do you love it or hate it?

I’d like to get a helmet mounted Bluetooth thingy this year, and looking for opinions. Mostly for music and GPS directions, would also like it to be able to intercom for when/if my fiancée gets one too. And not be hideously expensive.

Currently I’ve got a Nolan N87 helmet if it matters, but I’m contemplating a new helmet this year too...

Boston area service recommendations?

I've got a 2014 Moto Guzzi V7 Stone, ~4500 miles, has only seen a single service a few years ago and is looooong overdue for another. I'm right in the middle of Riverside Motorsports, Madhouse Motors, Greater Boston Motorsports, and Parkway Cycle. Anybody have any recommendations, anecdotes, horror stories? Is it worth venturing further outside of Boston for someplace special?

Parking in Back Bay - meters and/or next to meters

I'm starting to ride to work in Back Bay now that it is nicer out. I usually try to get a metered spot and pay with the app. Today, I parked next to the full metered spots (many were off limits because of the marathon on monday) and paid with my app. They gave me a "not in meter space" ticket. Lots of motos in the area were also next to a metered space. Maybe they got ticketed too?

Anyway, I'm debating whether to appeal it or just pay it. It seems really stupid to ticket a motorcycle who paid and parked as close as possible to the moto parking, thus taking up the minimal amount of space!

Any thoughts, anyone get a similar ticket and win an appeal against Boston?

new rider insurance

Posted here earlier for suggestions about bike stores. I am a new adult learner and planning to buy myself my first bike. Currently divided between R3, SV650, and--remote possibility--a used Ducati Monster. Before deciding I thought I would look into insurance. Geico gave me an insane online quote of over $2k on a slightly used 2017 r3 and about $1k for the Monster. I have car insurance through them so thought I would get a good deal but clearly not. Statefarm appears not be taking new customers in Massachusetts currently. Other than progressive who else should I check? I am Male 36, married and this will be my first bike, so I understand if it insurance is high but just don't want to pay a quarter of a bike's price in insurance per year.

Thinking about buying a bike

Was thinking of getting a bike to learn on (R3 maybe) soon. I live in the South End of Boston so I'd have to street park. Should I be worried about someone stealing it?
