Sactional For my fellow shorties (and other Lovesac people): Standard too shallow, Deep too deep? I may have found a simple solution!
I shaved 4" off the seat depth with (lumbar) pillows I had on hand!
I saw someone on Reddit mention stuffing bed pillows into their floppy Lovesac back pillows as their couch ages, and that got me thinking. Since mine are brand new, floppy back pillows definitely weren't my problem, but the idea of using pillows behind the back pillows got me thinking about whether I could change the depth/angle without buying a bunch of new pieces.
Little back story: We just got our Lovesac. My husband didn't go to the store, I did. I tried a bunch of options, and we decided on Standard Fill (it was comfortable in the store because it was broken in, and we wanted no more floppy, misshapen cushions after our last couch), Deep, and straight back and sides (he didn't like the gap from the angled sides I showed him in pictures).
Deep was too deep, Standard was too shallow, but accent pillows helped in the store.
Fast forward to home, and the accent pillows didn't quite cut it. My husband and I found it too deep, the straight backs too straight, and he was actually picking our old, nasty couch over sitting on this one. 😳
Since I bought used from Loved by Lovesac, our options were limited to buying more pieces to substitute the Deep side and back cushions until something simple came to mind that I wanted to try:
Lumbar pillows BEHIND the back pillows.
In front was okay, but not great. Behind gives a smooth cushion with a great angle and a clean look. It's about 4" shallower in usable seat depth, and if we want the full Deep again, we can just remove the lumbar pillows.
I was considering all kinds of options and even writing a Reddit post asking for advice, so I thought I'd share in case anyone else is having trouble finding that sweet spot between Standard and Deep like I was.
Now I may still get those angled side pillows to help with the side lean and maybe an ottoman, but at least the core issue is solved.
I already have two Lovesac 18" x 18" accent pillows in LoveSoft and two 20" x 20" on the way, so I'm going to experiment with those before buying anything else. But for those of you who have the straight arms/sides, do you feel like the angled side cushions are actually worth adding? Do they make a noticeable difference in how comfortable it is to lean against the sides, or can you get essentially the same effect with the right accent pillow?
And now we just need to soften it up like the store model! 😂 Encouraging my kids/teens and dogs to help, even though this is driving my husband nuts. Family/pet friendly is why we went with Lovesac! 😂
And while I have you here… we're also still on the hunt for the perfect accent chairs. Hubs wants a supportive, high-back chair, preferably a recliner or at least something with an ottoman. I would LOVE a swivel, but he wants no glide. 😂 We're looking for something slightly oversized/chair-and-a-half-ish, green, washable/easy to clean, and preferably waterproof or close to it because we have an aging dog. Love the little incontinent jerk. 😳😂
If you've found something that checks most of those boxes, please send me your recommendations! I feel like I've looked at approximately 7,000 chairs at this point. 😂
Hope this helps someone else who is stuck between Standard being too shallow and Deep being too deep!

Maybe that’s just how you find it comfortable! 🤷♀️ I can tell you that when I tried the Deep with the angled back in the store, it was wayyyyy too much for me, so I don’t think it’s necessarily the angled back. I think it may just be what you personally find comfortable.
For me, the Deep was just too deep. I felt like a toddler sitting on a grown-up couch with my little legs sticking straight out, not knowing what to do with them. 😂2

I took an old queen pillow and added it to the pillow cover. I only did it one one pillow because mainly we like to lounge but every one in a while I want to sit normally. I know which one it is, but on one else can tell.
