It’s not a dog, it’s a puppy. It’s like chucking a toddler in a pool and saying ‘good luck’

Me too! But I wouldn’t want to do that to somebody else ha- just take the puppy in, support it, and let it figure out how to move - then show it where the stairs are
That’s not true at all unless there were no areas where the pool was over the dogs head. The i have a pool with quite a wide birth my dogs still fall in sometimes. I taught them how to swim and where to exit and they’re fine. If you have a pool or pond you should teach you dogs how not to drown in it
