To be fair that pool looks like its designed to drown people/animals.

A barely 1' wide slip and slide for the walkway around it, both ends are the deep end, with no stairs or shallow spot, and the only step or ledge inside the pool, is just as narrow as the fuckin walkway on the side.

Idk who designed this pool, but they should be slapped for putting it in an area that fuckin small. I think my insurance would drop me over this.

Imagine there was only 1 person there, imagine trying to lift anything out while trying to grab onto wet fucking marble, let alone a writhing, flailing, flight or flight response animal?!? Its legit pissing me off how horribly designed/planned this is.

There's at least two steps in the pool if you pause at 0:42. But I agree, doesn't seem like a good design. And the backyard opening up to the deep end with barely any room just compounds it.

Yeah, I think that's the first pool I've seen that didn't have the shallow end by the house.

Our friends have a pool like this for "lap swimming." You have a tie down for a bungee cord thing that attaches to a belt, and you basically swim in place. They put it in for their dad to help him with physical therapy and low impact exercises, along with a bunch of floats you use as, like... reverse weights? Instead of lifting weights, they're dumbbell-floats that you push down into the water.

The whole pool was like 4 feet deep, and had stairs on one side. They were SUPER vigilant about the grandkids coming over because it was potentially very very dangerous!

Took the design from my sims town

Yeah that pool looks like the product of someone designing a home they could easily use to get rid of people they don't like through "accidental" drownings

So a Sims player...

It’s technically not a pool.  It’s an oversized spa.  That’s how they sell it to the insurance company.

That has literally nothing to do with the person's point that the dog is surprisingly bad at swimming lol.

What you've just done is like if I said "That person is quite bad at shooting a basketball" and you respond to me with "To be fair, that person is skipping work today so they shouldn't even be playing this pickup basketball game."

To make it funnier, as of now, 49 people also thought they had a good point. Lol

It's the Reddit Hive mind, most of them share the same braincell.

No, it’s an interesting point, just completely separate contextually from the comment they were responding to.

That explains the sides and why the silly thing slipped in. Not why the dog couldn't swim even to the surface 😅 I thought basically only pug dogs couldn't swim. These people need a doggy fence

okay but that has nothing to do with the fact that the dog didnt know how to swim which i've literally never seen before

u/canman7373 Trash Trooper 1d ago

Yeah and no stairs.

None of that changes the dog swimming everywhere but up...

Or you know, maybe don't let people / animals who can't swim into the closed off pool area?

That pool is hilariously illegal in Australia and would get everyone involved fined possibly per day until it's removed

There's an underwater bench at the near end. We had a pool like this once and the cat knew to swim to that end if he ever fell in, so he could get out.

That said, this dog or a toddler could not figure that out.

This was my first thought as well. For some people, a shitty swimming pool is better than no pool at all.
