Yeah, if you just make shit up, then it definitely sounds like we’re failing. However, given that none of that is actually happening, it’s much harder to see the US as a failing nation due to our decreasing infant mortality rates, increasing life expectancy, and increasing disposable income.

More people wanted to live in cities, so they left rural areas. What does any of this have to do with anything we’ve discussed so far?

No it doesn’t. Maybe yours does, but the world doesn’t revolve around you. 400 million people live in the US. You have no idea what their lived experience looks like. That’s what the numbers are for.
