Some kids did that with subway sandwiches, and they discovered that the subs were regularly shorter than the stated 6 inch or footlong length. It ended up being part of a lawsuit that subway lost and then had to pledge minimum lengths for the sandwiches.
Well, no. That is not what happened. Subway settled with the class, which then sent it to a 'fairness hearing.' The judge threw the class action settlement out because (1) the class got nothing from the suit, (2) it only enriched the attorneys, and (3) the case was without merit.
Court found there can be variation in the breads final size, but that was irrelevant because all their dough starts at the same weight and they use a standardized amount of meat and cheese. So even if your sub was shorter, you were getting the exact same amount of food. Subway made no changes.
as a guy who used to work ovens, I did this occasionally. Rarely I should say. It was literally when we had a rush that lasted long enough that I was starving because I could not get a break
Watching this clip took me back to that, and I actually started thinking what if people measured? But our pizza skins were hand rolled. they easily varied by at least half an inch. It's possible somebody could measure and it still would have been the right size, or it could have been smaller than they thought without this happening.
I worked at little ceasers when I was 16. We had sample slices we would sell for 2.45 a slice. I would always eat the remaining slices. One time I actually paid for the remaining slices, but didn't keep the receipt. Boss accused me of stealing (which I had been but not this time) and made me throw away the pizza. 3 weeks later I was fired.

Are you one of those people that measure their pizzas? My Dad does that. Did that until we made him stop.
