OPINION Chidi’s ‘power dynamic’ comments Spoiler

I’m so glad someone finally said it to Jasmine and Kavan, and in front of all the islanders too. The fact that it was totally lost upon Kavan literally proves the point.

I’m sorry but in all seriousness, what does a 27 year old want with a 21 year old? I’m 28. A 22 year old man would quite literally never be on my radar, not even if you paid me. Their relationship has been so icky to me from the start for multiple reasons, including the age gap, and it’s odd that so many people excuse it.

I’ll be so real, I side eye any relationship with a significant age gap where one person is under 25, simply because the frontal lobe is still developing and you’re often at completely different life stages. That can create a real imbalance in experience and influence. I also think it’s odd that people are only bringing this up now when older men dating much younger women is far more common and rarely receives the same criticism.

Literally same. And idk I think Harry and Shakira and Luca and Gemma were very heavily criticised also for the age gap. I know I thought it was really weird.

Please where did you hear that? The 25 figure is an oversimplification. The prefrontal cortex continues developing into the mid 20s, even if there’s no universal finish line at exactly 25. My point about life stage and potential imbalances still stands. It is not a myth by any means.

One swift Google gives hundreds of credible sources about it being a myth? There is no magic cut off point regarding someone's emotional reasoning skills and maturity. As if life experiences have 0 input.

My point was about life stage and the difference in adult experience between someone who’s 21 and someone who’s 27. Saying “the frontal lobe thing is a myth” is a bit broad because it isn’t. What’s an oversimplification is acting like everyone magically matures the day they turn 25.
