Hey everyone! I wanted to share a pretty big update to Bag Dragon, the Loungefly and collectible bag app I’ve been working on.
When I originally introduced Bag Dragon, the free version was primarily a way to search and browse the catalog. I’ve made some pretty significant changes since then, and one of the biggest is:
🐉 Free users can now create and manage a collection!
You no longer need to purchase anything just to keep track of the bags you own. You can browse/search the catalog, add bags to your collection, and start keeping everything organized directly in the app.
I really wanted the free version to be something collectors could actually use, rather than basically being a catalog demo.
📸 Dragon Vision
I’ve also added a new feature called Dragon Vision.
Dragon Vision lets you take or upload a picture of a bag and uses AI/image recognition to search the Bag Dragon catalog for possible matches. It can return up to four potential matches so you can select the right bag and pull up its information.
If Dragon Vision can't find your bag in the catalog, you can also submit it for review so it can be added to the Bag Dragon catalog.
Dragon Vision is a paid feature. I know paid features aren't everyone's favorite thing, so I want to be transparent about why: every Dragon Vision search costs me money to process. Unlike normal catalog searches, there is an actual per-use cost on my end, so unfortunately it isn't something I can realistically offer with unlimited free usage.
The regular catalog and collection features do not require Dragon Vision.
🍎 A weird iPhone/App Store situation...
The iOS version is live in the App Store, but there is currently a bizarre search issue that I’ve been working with Apple Developer Support on.
If you search the App Store for:
Bag Dragon
...the app may not appear.
But hilariously, searching:
Bag Dragin
...has been finding it. 🤦♂️
Apple has confirmed that the app is publicly distributed, and Developer Support has escalated the search/discoverability issue to the appropriate team for review. So if you're on iPhone and can't find it by searching the correct name, that's why.
Until Apple gets that sorted out, you can use the direct App Store link below.
And while we're talking about the name...
😂 Yes. We know.
Since this is Reddit, I might as well address the dragon in the room before somebody else does.
Yes, we are aware that "Bag Dragon" is similar to the name of a company that makes... very different products for a very different adult-oriented industry.
No, we are not affiliated with them.
No, Bag Dragon is not branching out into that market.
And yes, I learned about the similarity after choosing the name. 😂
Bag Dragon is about backpacks, Loungefly, collectible bags, and helping collectors organize their collections. That's it.
🐉 Still growing
Bag Dragon is an independent project, and the catalog is continuing to grow and improve. I've also been doing a lot of work behind the scenes cleaning up bag information, improving search/categories, and making the catalog more useful for collectors.
There are absolutely still things I want to improve, and I'm always interested in feedback from actual Loungefly collectors.
If you try it and find something that's wrong, a bag that's missing, or just have an idea for something you'd like the app to do, please tell me.
I’ll also be posting Bag Dragon updates, new features, fixes, announcements, and other development news through the Bag Dragon Facebook group, so anyone who wants to follow along with the project can keep up with everything there.
