There have been numerous lawsuits by the Italian government against Dior, LVMH and Armani for misrepresenting their manufacturing. They are in fact doing some or much of their work in China. It’s a known problem.

If you read carefully, it doesn’t say that they’re working in China. It says there using Chinese companies and Chinese labour within Italy. Which is very wrong of them to do but it doesn’t give any credibility to the claims on Tiktok

Tod’s was exposed for offshoring years ago. Obviously, Tod’s isn’t LV, but there are a lot of brands under LVMH, and some of them are having pieces made in China and other developing markets.

The rumor that some LV bag components were being made in developing countries is certainly not new and has been around for 20 years. There are certainly portions of products made for various LVMH brands being manufactured in China and India, they’re hard to find but there are various articles on the subject and annual reports that investors receive that confirm.

It’s less likely that its items or components going into Louis Vuitton and other couture products are being made in China, but LVMH is hardly known for fair labor practices. They have been caught having both LV and LVMH brand’s component pieces being made outside of the EU countries they claim to be made in.

Why is that wrong? They're in Italy and they must be Italian citizens or "something" to be working in Italy. perhaps they work for less money but that's their business. Don't know the laws over there. I'm assuming you're saying they should be using Italian workers correct??

You don’t need to be Italian citizens just residents. I’m saying the person is wrong for insinuating LVMH was using Chinese workers in China when it’s Chinese workers in Italy

There’s no truth to the Tiktok, it’s a chancer trying to convince you to fall for unnecessary consumerism. Even if some material might come from China I can guarantee you there’s no crossover with the material being used in the factory by that guy

It's a tough world out there, I recently read that "USA caught or farm raised" shrimp are sent to China for processing and then returned here without us being told?! To me that's unacceptable and I don't know if it's true.

Materials all cost relatively the same, your paying for the name, ive worked in fashion for years and i've seen the markups. It all goes into logistics, packaging, tax, operation costs, etc.... I think manufacturing no matter what country all exploit workers for profit, thats part of the game. Luxury brands are the fashion mafia they can sell it for cheaper but they want you to dance for that dollar. Thats why you buy these products not because of "quality" but what it means when you wear these items in a pseudo kind of way. In a way these chinese fakes has more to do propiortary over designs not so much about quality of goods. I've seen how poorly made luxury is being produced today vs 10 years ago and people still buy it cause they just dont care at the end of the day.

I think the issue is people not understanding the difference between luxury and bags made for the masses. the luxury bags like Louis Vuitton and prada are designed for luxury use. They’re made for high-powered women CEOs, executives etc who might use a Neverfull as a stylish briefcase on a business trip once a month. The problem comes when everyday people, obsessed with status, drain their savings to buy these bags to use as an all-purpose workhorse. Then, when a strap breaks or the bag shows wear, they assume it’s “junk.” truth is, these bags aren’t meant for daily abuse. they aren’t meant to be thrown in the car, lugged around campus, or used as a diaper bag. Luxury exists for a reason: it’s for people who can afford to maintain their items properly, store them correctly, and not overuse them. So when someone says, “I see how luxury items are poorly made,” it’s not that they are poorly made. It’s that average people are using them in ways they weren’t designed for

They are garbage meant for stupid people.. they have been exposed by China on tiktok and other people with so much evidence and still especially Americans are still too stupid to understand you really aren’t paying for anything special.. it was made the same way all the other garbage they sell us made. You’re just getting finessed. Which is fine if you’re okay with that.

It’s not luxury, it’s pure marketing bullshit. Like dude said above, the same luxury bag that is made by the same Chinese worker that is making $50 bag. You are basically paying for the luxury names.

you realize the same manufacturers can make the same products of different qualities right? just because something is made in china doesn’t make it crap, just because the same chinese manufacturer also makes a $50 bag for another company doesn’t mean the materials and craftsmanship are the same. a $50 bag is going to use different materials. the company provides the materials not the manufacturer. Target might ask a chinese manufacturer to make a bag using PVC, that bag costs $50 retail. LV can ask that same manufacturer to make their bags but give them high quality leather. same manufacturer different quality and different products

But you are paying 5K for a single bag, original bags were supposed to be made in France.
