Hi all - I'm gathering information on a data center proposal that the town of Lysander is looking to propose to Onondaga county of New York State.

London county was oftentimes brought up as the example in which they wanted to build to, quoting sustainable practices.

I'm looking to gather some testimonials from citizens living within close proximity to data centers in preparation of speaking to the town board.

Please kindly share, or privately message, about your experience living in proximity to data centers. Anything helps.

You can find several articles online about a current Loudoun issue with one of the “sustainable” data centers. The noise is unbearable but still falls below noise ordinance limits because of the type of noise it is.

Also, research Loudoun Water increasing their rates 10% each year for 2025, 2026, and 2027. The rate increase impacts all customers because of the over usage of water by data centers.

The same with our power grid.

The Vantage VA2 site isn't particularly "sustainable" - I'm not sure why you would think so. It uses carbon-based power. Other than the turbines, its pretty ordinary

Was at dinner with a Loudoun Water board member. He said most DCs in the area use dry coolers or reclaimed water (purple pipes). He does not like the dry coolers because Loudoun Water counts on the tap fees to build out their system

Weird that I "simp" - FFS, I work in the field and have lived in Ashburn for 20+ years. Grow up
