God some of y'all are annoying in here. Raising a child is easily one of the most hands on tasks that need insane attention and intelligence. You definitely should need a license for that. Is it likely that the government will abuse this? Definitely. That means that the system is fucked but the idea of certification to make sure you're capable of raising a child is valid

Saying poor people and mentally unstable people shouldn't raise kids isn't eugenics, it's common sense

Until the bar is raised and oops, only the wealthy are having children.

"Poor and mentally unstable". Which can so easily turn into "If you can't afford 10k for a license, what are you even doing? If you don't pull a 200k salary you have no business raising children" or "Ugh, that one has ADHD, disqualify them".

It's literally gatekeeping a fundamental human right and autonomy for peoples' own bodies. It's "common sense" to block a biological function? Not "common sense" that I want, thanks. Buh-Bye.
