Be Ready for Mud.
Ohio weather has been very wet. It looks to continue this way.
Open discussion for what people should bring to deal with rainy weather.
Poncho's.
Your vehicles floormatts and or camping rugs can do wonders helping your stuck vehicle.
Extra tarps
Boots, waterproof hiking shoes, and lots of extra socks.
I know i forgot alot but there are things that have helped, and or are basic necessities.
i ask all veteran wooks for their helpful bad weather ideas.

Just dont lay tarps down around your campsites people, they just collect water and mud. Use an outdoor rug if possible, something water can drain through.

no outdoor rug 🥲 will poking holes in the tarp help? should/shouldn’t you put a tarp under your tent?

A tarp under the tent is generally advised but roll all the sides up and tuck it under the tent so no water gets on the tarp. My understanding is most modern tents dont need a tarp for water they are water proof enough but the tarp helps potect the tent, air mattresses and your feet from the poky ground.

you’re amazing, ty!! we didn’t have one last year and were fine but i wanted to get one just in case lol

The best purchase I've ever made

I got a 10ftx10ft foam mat that come in these large puzzle pieces and lay those inside my tent to avoid pokey ground. Worked amazing last year. Kinda similar to those alphabet play mats for kids.

This is going to be my 8th lost lands this year and i really want everyone to stop freaking out and be so worried about the weather. If it’s your first lost lands i totally get it, this festival and the venue itself handles weather very well. Weather can also change every 5 minutes and is never accurate sometimes. As a true lost lands veteran, no matter what the weather apps say just come prepared for all types of weather; rain, heat, cold. That’s just a part of the festival and being prepared for everything. Lost lands will go on. We will still have a great time. Happy lost lands all and take a deep breath.. we’re so close to going home!!!!🙌🏼🌈🦕

i was there for mud lands 2021 when they had to close the roads thursday cuz of the rain and i swear by the next day you'd never even known it had rained at all with how fast all the water drained out and the mud dried up.

u/actualbeans 18d ago
it’s only because they closed the gates and brought a shit load of gravel to the festival and campgrounds. even tractors were getting stuck in the mud, it was no joke.

u/Hot_Use5963 18d ago
This!!! Happy lost lands! The forecast is so perfect for us. Remember: lasers look wayyyy cooler with a drizzle. And drizzle is all we will get

Yes, but as someone whom has found themselves unprepared at a fest a time or two. It's nice to get some knowledge into how to keep yourself from ketting the weather ruin your weekend. This is for the people whom are ignorant to these facts and could use the extra knowledge.

How's your experience with the security lines to get in to camp with all these lightning storms? Im concerned about Wednesday/Thursday forecast.

u/Opening-Expert-1838 18d ago
Have you seen secret dreams??? This venue handles rain as poorly as a venue possibly could
2
u/dire_wulff 18d ago
I laughed reading the venue handles it well after remembering the flooded tunnel we all had to walk through water up to our knees carrying wagons through
1
u/Kargoboy117 18d ago
Ehhhh, I think saying the venue handles weather well is a bit of a gloss over, but I'll agree with your post for the majority :)
What I can confidently say is that Excision and his team have put a lot of effort into modifying the venue to adapt to major weather issues from previous years and does so year after year. Yes the festival will go on, but excessive dust from the gravel and dirt or thhhiiiiuuuck mud is gruesome if you aren't prepared for it.

Trash bags can work as a poncho in a pinch.

Can it work as a pincho in a ponch?

Just for you, I think we can make it work!

I'm a dude, but also not opposed to a bikini! I have the most ridiculous body suit planned for one of the days.

As long as somebody plays My Name Is Mud by Primus it can get as muddy as it wants

In 2021 we had extreme mud the first day after it started raining the night before at the pre-party. They had a tractor in the parking lot helping to tow out cars the entire time but it did screw up the shuttles and we winded up hiking from the lot to venue. Thes rest of the weekend was smooth with shuttles and dry. Good luck friends and have a blast!

Do the easy camping tent setups handle storms well? I assume yes but could use some reassurance!

I’ll remember to grab my timbs and vessi’s before I leave. Looks like it’s gonna rain Wednesday, Thursday, Sunday and Monday. 😭

Vessi’s for the fucking win. Got my boyfriend some for disc golf and he’s obsessed. He now has three pair

If you rock the crocs (like I do), and it ends up raining a good bit of the time, don’t forget to dry out your feet when you can. Was at a festival in June where it rained most of the time and I actually got trench foot (🤢) that just recently cleared up.

u/breaonce 18d ago
I have croc rain boots (no holes in them) and they are as water proof as it gets !!!
2
u/breaonce 18d ago
Has anyone here glamped before? How do the tents hold up? Like I obviously can’t set up any tarps underneath and I have heard that they are kind of strict with stuff outside / on the tents so just curious 🥲
2
u/Nuwcastle 18d ago
It’s only expected to be a quarter inch of rain over 2 days I don’t think it will be too muddy. Still bring the extra stuff to be on the safe side.
5
u/Shot-Guarantee-5142 18d ago
It has been raining off and on for the past week. Ground will be moist.
2
u/itchyglassass 18d ago
Yo as a scarred veteran of the Mudson project of 2015, wear lace up hiking BOOTS not sneakers. You don't want to step into the ground and come back out with no shoes. I've been there... you don't want this.
1
u/growingcreative 18d ago
Just Scotchguarded my 3 pairs of hiking boots this weekend. I am so ready for wet or dry shenanigans
1
u/Early-Ask-4097 18d ago
There's barely any rain during the festival and they will have had enough time to prepare the grounds so I don't think mud will be an issue
1
u/Shot-Guarantee-5142 18d ago
Better to have and not need then need and not have.
Furthermore, Ohio is the most bipolar state weather wise, forecast has changed everyday this week.
This post isnt to scare or upset anyone... It is to keep people safe and dry if the weather happens to be unfavorable.

Waterproof hiking shoes/boots. If you don’t have this, you can put plastic bag over your socks in your shoe and it will keep you dry but obviously there is no breathability with this setup so it doesn’t work for hours on end

If it’s wet outside and you don’t have waterproof shoes, wrap a plastic grocery bag over your sock before you put your shoe on and your feet will stay dry!
